Please help with my headers

Hay im removing my header and its a real pain! nuff said

i began this process and im a lil stuck ive broken all three bolts that connect the header to the cat (on my way to home depot as i type).

The bottom three screws are off, the top three are killing me this is where my problem is at! does anyone know how i can get to them i cant take the wheel off bcuz when i brought the car they did not include the key for the lock-nut on the tires SMH.
Is there a DIY on headers? i thought i saw one but cant find it now if anyone can help that would be great or if you know where that DIY is i'll take that aswell

thanx in advanced

break the lock on your wheels
it's much easier with it off.
what kind of headers? they didn't come with instructions?

those bolts are in there REALLY tight, I think I remember seeing torque specs of about 120 ft/lb so you're just going to have to crank on them or try and get more leverage somehow.

no DIY on headers that I know of.
why not call someone like Racing Beat and see if they'll email you / fax you instructions on their header system? Even if yours isn't the same, it might help you out a bit.

One more quick question!!! Do I need to remove an engine mout to get the header off?
I got all the studs out except 1 which seems to be stuck!

Your going to have to get the wheel off some day. Might as well make it now. It's gonna make the header removal a lot easier. And you'll be able to do your brakes in the future.

What are you referring to?

Removing the passenger side mount and bracket might make life simpler. I really don't know. Have never done a header on the RX8. With the Turbo install we remove the mount. Where is Jedi when you need him.

Yes you need to remove the motor mount and bracket.

Btw it's header, not headers. Why does everyone say that?! So annoying. F*ck.

When I was removing the Road Race Exhaust (Header, Straight mid pipe and Exhaust) for my FC. some of the bolts on the straight pipe got stuck(its all rust and ****, god) So I just a small grinder to grind the nut away.

You might be able to do the same if you have a small dremel rotary tool

Soon I will get a Knights Sports Header. Hmm . I might as well do a DIY.

Ok guys figured everything out got the header in pretty simple once I got the wheel off! Havnt started the ride yet waiting for my mid-pipe to get here (mailman is downstairs hopefully he has it lol) but anywho one of the studs that attach the header to the engine broke does anyone know where I can get one of these and what size they are! I was thinking 10mm but not sure?

fixed, hehe.

anyway mr.west,

ur gonna need to get a drill bit and bolt extractor set to get those out.
or if ur lucky, should the studs be long enough, get urself a stud remover tool from sears to attach to a ratchet, and get it out that way.

can't judge on the approach to take first without seeing the situation. but a good bet is to go with a stud remover tool, before having to drill a hole and use the extractor. not the other way first. reason being the bolt will be too fragile at that point...

GL
and get plenty of PB blaster when doing a job like this...

Are you talking about those "double thread" studs that connects the engine housing to the header ?

IF thats what you're talking about, you can get a replacement from Mazda for couple of bucks.

When I did my FC, I replaced all studs with new ones. Its just not worth the risk.

You will need some PB Blaster or Freeze Plug kind of spray. but to make it work better, heat your engine up, turn it off then spray it. it will shrink the bolts fast so the chemical can sneak in faster.
