I am very interested in this, but there appears to be a lot of resistance from some of the well known rotary-enthusiasts here that this procedure is absolutely rubbish.

Can someone like Zoom44 or others like Mazdamaniac chime in and talk more about this. It sounds important to be that OMP injectors need to be kept clear and unclogged.

what if someone who is using the sohn adapter just dump a can of sea foam in their reservoir tank to clean out the injectors!!! it wont contaminate the engine oil.

I cleaned my OMP nozzles and did Seafom decarb using my new seafoam dispenser so I though I would share. One of the problems with seafoam effectiveness is that is it ingested into engine in liquid form. I feel that better dispersion and cleaning effect can be achieved if seafoam is introduced as a fine mist.

To achieve this I bought a little mist making device called EZmist..

Poured seafoam(or cleaner of your choice) in it, pressurized it and voila I can spray fine seafoam mist into:

-throttle body to clean the intake and related valves
-jet air vacuum port, instead of using nipples on LIM
-OMP air supply line to clean the OMP nozzles

All 3 conveniently accessible from the throttle body boot. Little nozzle conveniently fits perfectly into hoses that connect to TB. No more scars and burns from LIM. You can do it with car running or just pull the fuel pump fuse and disable the ignition.

I'd have to say this procedure works. My car didn't burn any oil the first 1500 miles i had it. Used around 4 oz of seafoam through the 12 o'clock hose and used around a quart in the past 1500 miles.

your apex seals are thanking you with each rotation gliding on the nice coat of oil

So nobody else from the other camp want to chime in on this procedure?

Seafoam attacks oils....

^ and are we not discussing cleaning clogged OIL injectors? What on earth do you think they are clogged with? If you suspect clogged oil injectors or are suffering from low oil consumption, your only real options are to try this, or replace the lines and injectors. People have been dumping seafoam into their rotary engines for a very long time, use common sense, and you will be fine.

And who are these people from "the other camp" you speak of??

There are notable members on the forum that have said this procedure is absolutely stupid/retarded/useless etc.. etc.. and more harm than good can be done.

I think if you are not burning oil then this is worth a try to see if it unclogs something because not burning oil and not premixing is bad for your engine but I would not do it on a regular basis using significant quantities of Seafoam or Zoom Zoom cleaner since it will destroy the oil film on the irons and dilute the oil being injected through the housings.

I agree with 9k. That's why I used MMO instead of sea foam / zoom zoom cleaner.
It worked! Oil consumption back to normal.

I used about 2oz.
See post number 75 this thread for a bit more info.
If you try MMO, let us know how it works for you.

I think in extreme cases seafoam should be used regulary. For example; the next 3 weeks my car will only be making 1 mile trips to a friends house for a free ride to work. My coolant temp only gets to 140* when the drive is over. If I actually drive myself to work I would just be sitting in traffic anyway. Also not good for carbon. So I seafoam before every oil change.

I've used mmo in the past with my 7's with no issue. But the smell always made me wonder what exactly is in it.

I've noticed my oil consumption has been markedly less lately. As I haven't had to add anything since about 4 or 5 fill ups, which IS unusual... thankfully I already premix. And my concern about a clogged OMP nozzle brought my search to this thread, I'm going to give it a try tomorrow with the 2oz of MMO since I already have some on hand.

Update

So today me and Hesselrode (mostly Hesselrode ) took off my UIM to change my coolant hoses. While it was off I made Hesselrode take an oil injector off so I could see how it looked. Here is one of my rear oil injectors, also a couple of shots of my LIM. Oil lines looked good as well.

Also oil consumption is still great, it has actually increased now that I am driving more aggressive.

So, when using the jet air nozzle to suck up the sea foam, should one complete the normal steps as if they were doing it through the vacuum ports on the housing? Such as disconnecting the ESPS, and the Air Pump and all that?

That he thinks seafoaming works based on the pics you posted.

Oh, now I see.

I have shoved some tb cleaner down the intake cleaning the tb, but seafoam I add in the service ports/ omp lines and jet-air nozzles. I have used seafoam in a spray can (Fogger?) to try and free my SSV, and it worked. But I never did it thinking about cleaning the LIM, from what I read the LIM stays pretty clean on it's own if you drive the car correctly.

Now when I had the UIM off I did throw some cleaner down there after the pics to get it silver again.

I still think seafoaming works to an extent by looking at the injector, I was very surprised at how clean it was. And by judging by my old spark plugs there was a lot of crap in the engine when I got it.
