?My invention: Best boost/CAN gauge ever on the OEM red LCD display.

I zoom therefore I am.
stock LCD is intact.. they simply connect to it.. so if the goodbox splices into that i would assume it would work. Either way i'd be willing to test it for you

I don't know about the RX8, but on the 3 "intact" depends on the year. The '04-'06s ran the LCD connection through the headunit, whereas for the '07-'09s the LCD has a separate bus connection. (Don't know about the '10s.)
So unfortunately this wont work for anyone with an '04-'06 3 with an aftermarket headunit.

Displays for RX-8
OK..Have done some RESEARCH on these Display Units for RX-8's Both Series 1 and Series 2 models.
As a Genuine Mazda Part Number there are 3 different Display Units..
Series 1 RX-8's are ALL the same in ALL Countries...
F151-61-1J0
Series 2 RX-8's there are Two...
FF14-61-1J0A USA and UK (With Air Bag Cut System)
F189-61-1J0A Australia (Without Air Bag Cut System)
I am guessing the "Air Bag Cut System" is a Warning Lamp in this Display when you have "turned off" the Passenger Air Bag. In Australia we do not have this feature.
The Series 2 display is a little longer (Larger) than Series 1, but has same looking layout.

Hey pieter3d, amazing work here.
I've owned a 2008 Mazda 3 and now own a 2004 RX-8.
One thing that always bothered me was when you replace the head unit; you lose half of the display.
While i'm not looking for any boost guage system per say; I would love to have the ability to hack into the LED display to have custom messages displayed in the head unit.
Is this something you are planning on having more with version2 of the GOODbox?

Very Cool, but im wondering what real-time obd2 pc scan tool program you actually used to program your "GoodBox"? Would be nice to have a Real-Time display of charts so you have more of an accurate reading then just a number display.
But of course, good stuff!

Don't get your hopes up with this working with aftermarket headunits. But if you want to keep the stock HU, would be great to have a SII to test with. Major discounts for you!

Thanks. I may take you up on that. Right now, I am looking at doing a whole carputer upgrade on mine instead of replacing the HU. That darn center LED display is the thorn in my side right now. with a carputer, I can do time, I can do outside temp but I just don't know how to get it to the display. Still doing lots of reading. Too bad I am not an EE as I'd know how to do it.
