They actually do something? I've heard about "feelings" like they do something, but aside from removing a bit of resistance, is there any proof that they contribute to performance?

One of my club buddies talked to one of the Grand Am guys who said they actually dyno'd after putting them on (the expensive ones). The net result was a 4 hp increase.

Hmm.. 4 hp ain't bad. Was that on an RX-8? I mean, for the $50 these things cost, I'd try it regardless. I just hate to buy the proverbial snake oil.

The only thing they could possibly do is reduce the load on the alternator (generator).
I did notice that firing up both of my cooling fans on high didn't load the engine quite as much.

Tesla would be happy - I've been grounded for 40K now. Every car needs this.

Does the alternator run a certain speed regardless, or does this somehow translate into reduced load on the engine?

ok... so, what's the verdict???
is this the right spot or what?
forgive my ignorance...

Right spot for what?

If you are looking to ground the coil mounting plate, that is here:

Ok --if the coils are that stressed why aren't we seeing more failures?
Also why does Roar and Speed say the additional grounding of the individual coils directly to the neg battery post help? I am almost certain they burn more coils than us street guys and other than the sparkplug wires it is a stock system. I know they are stock coils.
Just asking for an explanation.

Better grounding of the ignitor may stabilize the firing of the coils. I've seen no science on this as yet.

I'd love to see a dyno of before/after. I mean, yes it's super cheap, but then again, so is the turbonator.

Unlike the Turbonator, it can't hurt performance.
I don't think you are going to see any significant dyno results unless you are running a ton of stereo equipment while you are doing a pull.

Yeah I guess a dyno wouldn't be the appropriate thing. What I'm gathering is this grounding idea is pretty much for longevity of your electrical system?

Probably makes more sense to check inductance while you have the probes out.

Well I'm sure you'll show a reading, the person who wrote that most likely won't ...

I bought the same kit MM had. I was expecting it to be pretty crappy, but it came in a decent box, and it had a lot more weight to it than I thought.

I'll do the install this weekend... a lot of stuff to be done.

I read that grounding the plate will do nothing and you actually have to ground the coils themselve via the terminal they are connceted to. they said the mounting plate for the coils hold them but play no part in the grounding.

I haven't looked so, is this true?

4HP gain? If that was true then everyone would rave about it as they could feel that with their butt dyno. 4hp/232 is quite a bit.

you have to ground the coils individually --the plate does nothing
