The quickest way to raise eyebrows and get the

I have to admit, Tim at Berge is really good. But he is an enthusiast (really a Nissan guy, but I don't hold that against him).
Generally, he just turns the monitor around to me and lets me at it. I find all kinds of hidden goodies.
Just for grins, try finding the part number for the ambient temperature sensor through the regular search some time.

It was to my understanding that as a general rule, dealerships do not open or service engine internals even if they have a tech cable of doing so.
When I took my '8 into the local dealer for PCM reprogramming after the AT to MT swap, I found myself explaining rotary engine internals to the techs who circled around me and the car after I told them that not only did I do the trans swap, but I built the engine as well. As far as they were concerned I could have hired on as the head tech of the service department right then and there.

Honestly until you crack open a rotary and see how it all works, clean all the individual parts, and inspect them you really cant appreciate the rotary, nor understand how it works.

If there are people that have experience that runs contrary to your opinion, you are looking at an argument and had better well be prepared (and tempered) to defend that opinion.
The converse to that is that if you have experience with something, be braced for the onslaught of misinformed opinions about the subject.

Either way I'm glad your on the forums. And I agree with your rule of thumb wholeheartedly.
I cant describe what im thinkign to well.
The point is don't believe life only goes one way and there are no turns or stops to be had. When you make those turns or stops you had better listen and learn all that you can. That's how I live my life.

I asked you to supply the part number of the Single (one) OCR you say you can buy, but again you don't have the bag/box it came in...what don't your suppliers give you invoices?
I have supplied well over 400 Rotary Engine seal and gasket sets, housing sets, for ALL Rotaries 10A,12A, 13B, (not Renesis), Many RENESIS parts are identical by part number..like Oil Control Rings, and NEVER have I supplied a Half or Quarter OCR..NEVER, either Mazda Factory Warranty Claims or the 3 Separate retail Rotary rebuild Shops who purchased from me.
Again...YOU called me...I am asking you to supply the Part Number for the Single outer or Single Inner OCR that you can buy..

If my memory serves me well Mazdatrix sells the seals individually too, with just the oil seals themselves being coupled.
May you check this part number for the blowby oil scraper ring and confirm that it is an individual one perhaps? 11C510N3H1

4 Pairs make a set of 8...for One engine.
The Anti-Blow by Ring is another separate part and sold Singularly (4) N3H1-11-C51

Anyway a lot of parts sellers here are willing to separate the packages just to keep some cash flow so there are thousands of reason of why you may have 2 different experiences in ordering said parts. All those reasons are good enough to keep this thread in topic and clean from arguments since i'm pretty sure that shady needs the help from this community in a different way considering that this is his first build!

As for the oil control ring debate. If I run down to mazdatrix with $40 in my hand and ask for one outer oil control ring I'm pretty sure they wont turn me down. In any event I will be testing out my theory tomorrow. Wish me luck!

My new job doesn't start until June 14th and I will have about $600 worth of parts that I want.

I know you are pissed, but the fact is I buy them in singles. It doesn't really matter how it works or how it doesn't in some places.
Its not like I'm making this up. We build motors. I'm on my 7th in my own car alone.
I call Glen, he gets me parts. He doesn't care how many or how few and apparently, neither does Mazda in Cali or Jersey.
(Tempered by the reasoned, measured response from my esteemed colleague, above.)
