Ok rebuild kit will arrive tomorrow however I am going to be in Philly this whole weekend Thumbs down to Atkins on this one. Its a long story but I was not pleased with their service.

RC engineering however was amazing. I dropped off my injectors at 10 am and picked them up at 2 pm.

Benefits of living in Southern California. I can drive to Racing Beat mazdatrix and a myriad of specialty shops whenever I need a part.

Build will commence on Tuesday night... Hopefully.

$20-25 per injector is industry standard rate. Folks on the west coast normally use RC. Northwest, Marren motorsports. I use FIC in atlanta.

its worth it--when i 1st did mine--one was actually "dripping".

In reading a tech paper on oil developement for the rotory engine i ran across some interesting findings by Mazda. Seems the heavier the oil wgt the more carbon that forms around the apex seal, but for bearing protection they said nothing short of a 40 wgt oil.
More evidence to use the sohn adaptor---thats why I threw this out on this thread.

On the topic of the "super hard" apex seals for turbo applications: if you use them, you are deciding that you would rather reduce the chance of a catastrophic failure at the risk of a shorter service life. It's a trade off. If you are pushing the motor hard, IMO it's worth it. The most likely thing to happen to modded turbo engine is a catastrophic apex seal failure due to detonation. But it all comes down to preference and the use of the engine.

Given a realistic budget, I'd rather build my engine with decent used housings that can withstand more detonation (hard apex seals) than something that wears slower but is more likely to suffer catastrophic failure.

the port templates look very conservative (given the small room there is to play with). Do they say to work the ports on the inside in terms of shape\angle as well?

they didnt but i got in there anyway and polished the ports so they are smooth and free of marks. I also got into the manifold and took out the cast lines and smoothed all that out. man is that manifold nasty as hell.

It is a bit conservative and I stretched it out a bit more than instructed but I didn't want to get to crazy.

I also smoothed out each ports entrance and exit. I went through a whole case of bits doing all the housings. granted they were **** from harbor freight, but at $17 I wasnt going to complain.

yea they are scared of lawsuits. They report a magical 265whp with a tune and no cat and headers. I dont believe them but its ok to dream right?

Be careful with Renesis ports as they are pushing wise limits in stock trim. The RB are still sensible. If done improperly you will damage side seals.

Surely a "hard" apex seal implies a brittle material which is more likely to break but will last longer ?

Ha, well I haven't regretted yet. well see when its all back together how the harness works. It would have been nice to have the customer service support as a backup. I'm pretty sure they will be fine though.

Indeed thanks for the note. I didn't push it to far I just focused more on smoothing everything out that could restrict airflow.
