Motor Mount TSB

If you havent had your motor mounts, REPLACE it. Mine were actually looking good, but the dealer was nice enough to replace it. After they fixed it, my car idle 100 times better. If your dealer wont replace it, find someone who will. Rotary engine is suppose to idle smooth, not rough.

IT always idles smooth, it shakes because the motor mount has some crack then it moves around.

Replace it even if your car is out of the VIN range?

At idle, you should not feel ANY engine movement. The only part of the car that you should feel it is in the shifter.

Even if you're outside the VIN range, if you're feeling vibration in the car, you should have it checked out, or do what MM recommends and have your mounts filled with something like silicone.

My Service Dept said its normal........................... "all engines shake man your supposed to feel it."

Today I put a plastic bag filled with a few things in my passenger seat and while at a stoplight I could hear the bag rustle as the can of tire washing foam vibrated in the seat. At times I feel it through my A/T shifter and steering wheel. I know these guys and they'll most likely blow me off. Hell its been in the shop on average once a month since I've owned it thankfully for small things but this is annoying me since yeah gonna call up this other dealership a friend mentioned.

Yeah I took my AT in for this issue and the vibration is AWFUL under 1000 rpms...especially when it dips down around 800rpm at idle. They said "we could find any vibration. The other day I left the car running, and popped the hood. I could see the engine physically shaking back and forth, which was making my car a giant vibrator. I got really pissed off at the service techs after seeing this.

Next time I'm going to go in there, popping the hood, showing them exactly how much the engine is shaking and hand them a printed up sheet with the TSB. It's rediculous.

So far the colder it gets the worse it seems to be getting. In the summer I hardly felt it and just chaulked it up to the engine since I was used to my trucks V6 which did shake obviously but not enough to cause me any concern.

I'm hoping this or any new dealer I bring it to when I mention it will correct the issue for me.

What do you not understand? The original part looked good, but the IMPROVED replacement part made idle better. You don't care about having a broken car, but I like mine perfect. If you are in the New England area, let me know. I will tell you where to go and I can send you a receipt of my work. I will also tell the service writer on Monday that it did fix the idle problem.

Change the motor mounts, idle will be much better! Dont let those idiots at the dealer dick you around, tell them to lick your I had to burn 2.5 gallons of gas to go to a dealer that would do good work.

Update on my situation - I took my car back in, popped the hood to let them look at the engine vibrating. Plus once it gets warmed up I'd get a rattle against a heat shield in the front. Today they called me up and told me they were sorry they doubted me last time, and that I was exactly right. They're giving me a free tank of gas as a way of saying sorry.

I'll get my car back in a couple days (they have to order the new mounts). I can't wait to have a vibration free/problem free car again!

I agree, I just had the motor mounts changed out on my car and now it is smooth as glass at idle. The only thing they didn't do is put the new motor bracket on the with heat shield on the passenger side, hopefully these mounts will last without that.
