Lowbeams question......

Back in Oct '05 put in a set of Xenon Gas Filled wanna be HID's 12v - 55w. Fast forward to Jan '06: Left bulb goes out on friday, right on monday. Checked bulbs left was blown, right was fine. Replaced bulbs with no results, took to dealer for regular service, had bulbs checked while there, and I suggested it might be fuse, since I failed to check on my own. Dealer emphatically states that these bulbs overpowered the system and blew the fuse. I can understand that the fuse may have blown, but with every car I have ever changed bulbs never had a so called "overpowering" with the correctly specified bulb size. These bulbs werent a fortune, $40, but I have had $15 bulbs and never a lick of trouble in other cars. Basically the nuts and bolts of this topic is, when using aftermarket bulbs has this problem been common with others? And if so any suggestions? If anything I would tend to belive that it was a manufature defect with the bulb on the thickness or gauge of the metal base around the bulb structure. Respones appreciated.

55W will not blow the fuse normally....something else is up. Either the bulb shorted....or they're feeding you a line of crap

I have run 100W bulbs in the 8 and not had a problem

The bulbs in the 8 have composite plastic bases so that shouldn't be the problem either
