HID Foglights & VLED Taillights

I've had the new VLED taillights for a couple of weeks now with no problem. I put in the H11 HID kit for foglights over the weekend. Now I run into a little problem. When I turn on both the main HID lowbeams and HID foglights at the same time, the left (driver's side) foglight won't come on. If I turn on the main HID lowbeams first and then the HID foglights, everything will come on fine. But the right (passenger's side) VLED taillight appears dimmer than the left one. I always have the engine running first before turning on any lights.

The engine idle seems a little rougher when all the lights are running. I thought that the HIDs drew less current than the halogens. What could the problem be?

my car runs a little rougher with the HIDs on too...but they do draw less current
not sure what to say about one of the fogs not coming on...bad ballast???
i assume you didnt have this problem before HIDs
try posting this on "Wow new LEDs...bright" thread...aipex is very knowledgable with VLED lights

Sounds like you need relays. I know they draw less current, but I guess HIDs are sensitive to jitter or something. When halogens don't get enough current, they dim. HIDs flicker or shut off.

Don't know why the LEDs aren't okay. I would swap them side to side. If the right is still dim, it is probably wiring. Spray the connectors with dielectric grease and check the voltages/grounds. Otherwise it is the led, just email vleds and they'll send a new one.

Also, consider that when the capacitors are first powered, they draw will draw max current, declining as they are charged. I don't know why that lamp doesn't fire eventually, but it isn't surprising that current load is very high at first.

Yup, the bulb is probably bad. I tried switching it from the passenger's side to the driver's side and it's still dimmer. I e-mailed V-LEDS and let them know about it. They're probably gonna replace it. Interestingly, the foglights seem to work fine when the bad taillight bulb is switched to the driver's side. I'm gonna keep an eye on the foglights, though.

I did the same thing with my car but I bought the relay kit as well. Maybe the relay kit stabilzes power supply?

Best customer service. Called them about a ballast that just stopped working and they sent me a brand new one no questions asked.
