How much power can be put through the factory six speeds? I know the clutch would need upgraded but do you think they could handle 400-500 hp?

I know for a fact that Chickenwafers' transmission failed very quickly when he made 325 ftlbs of torque . That equates to about 17-18psi at 5000 rpm on a Renesis .
And that my transmission has held up well while making 260ish ftlbs (10-11psi) at 5500 .

Not to turn this into a thread that compares other transmissions but i hear that a swap to the FD trans or the 09+ trans are an improvement. Anyone have any good info on this? I can not find any hard evidence on how they handle the power compared to the original series 1 trans. Kinda looking at my options since i am planning on mine going out soon.

Old dragger has run the S2 trans for a while in his SC setup . However SC's make a lot less torque than a turbo (generally) and EricMeyer mentioned the other day that the S2 g/box has a very small diameter input shaft . If so that may well be the limiting factor

Any info on the FD trans going in? I have read that its a option but i believe there are a few things that need to be changed to get it to fit properly in the car. However, you would think it would hold up well.

I have a buddy that has a supercharged Taurus SHO motor that needs a tranny since he is switching it to RWD. He heard that an RX8 tranny will bolt up to a Duratec bellhousing. More or less a custom setup.

I figured after I posted that I would get ***-slammed with negative comments. I guess I should he went into further details. I plan on leaving my 8 close to stock. This post was for a buddy.

Quick answer is dont use the RX8 trans. If people with boosted eights are having issues with them then they would not be good for a project that will put down more power or torque then a boosted eight.
