HVAC Normal Operation?
Hi All!
Recently purchased a 2004 RX-8 GT. I have a question about the HVAC operation...more than anything else, I am curious to know if this is normal operation:
Referencing a fully warmed-up car, driving in the winter. Changes made to the temperature setting seem to take a very long time to occur. For instance, turning the **** from full hot to full cold, there is a delay of 30-60 seconds before cold air from outside starts pouring out of the vents. I've read the DIY about fixing the HVAC control head if only hot or cold air comes out of the registers, but haven't read anything about a delay in operation.
On some of my older cars with water-valve-metered heaters, this would be almost normal, but most of the newer cars I've driven (anything built over the last 10 years or so), use dampers to change the air source and control temperature.
So, a big lag between temperature changes...Normal operation for an RX-8? If so, I can certainly live with it.
Thanks in advance!

I have never noticed mine taking that long once the car was warmed up.... Given, I have never really paid attention to how long it takes for the temp to switch over, but I think I would have noticed if it was taking more than 30 seconds.
So I can pretty confidently say no that isn't normal, but I'm not 100% positive.
