^ Really? The Service tech showed me this periodical service chart he had about certain services they have avialable for certain mileage ranges and one part there was replacing spark plugs with Platinum ones and he scratched it out and said "I'm omitted this one coz your RX-8 already has that".

Unless I read the NGK website incorrectly, the higher the number the colder the plug. The leading plugs are RE-7's and the trailing are RE-9's and they are Iridium.

They are already iridium and guess what --- the Japanese mag recommend to change it regularly - like every 10000km?!?!... we are back to RX-3 and nickel plugs?

no, ricer performance.
these plugs, provided they're not fouled (almost always worth cleaning in a tank of solvant or with a can of brake cleaner) will last a long, long, long time.
