Wtf? Mudd chases everywhere?

 

I understand all of the issues that can and will arise with the group purchasing of idemitsu. Shipping may be an issue if there are only a few people who want to buy. If a large number of people buy, we could possibly get a huge savings and with shipping, you could still be saving money. Thats why right now, I am only looking for who is interested, so I can get a number and get prices. For 50+ cases I was quote $47. Hoping we can break 100 in the forums.

I dont think they would be bad products, I just dont know if its the best for the money.

I wouldnt be worried about using it if I ran out of something else, IMO.

What was the problem with TCW-3 again? I know its touted as ashless or whatever, but I forget what the big flaw in it for rotary application was.

You are missing the point of not using TCW-3......

It is made to NOT burn in the cylinder, it is supposed to drool out into the exhaust, hence the bio imperative.

You are also missing the point about 'ashless' - if it don't burn, who cares how much ash it leaves? The ash is a test conducted in a crucible at high temps, to determine % of ash left by the ADDITIVES - there is no spec for how much cruddy build-up of carbon it can leave.....

(Ah, screw it, don't listen to me - just use whatever your Uncle Festus used, what do I care - boat oil IS the cheapest ***** on the shelf, if that's your #1 priority, go for it....)

Well put Stealth, I gotcha. I wasn't asking for cost reasons, just simple curiosity. I had heard the reasoning before, I just couldnt remember.

 

Thanks for the correction, StealthTL. I should have stuck to my earlier principle of not repeating arguments that I don't fully understand. I know several experts around here have used and recommended some TCW-3 oils but I should let them debate this if anyone cares to.

 

See, I saw that too. So that's why I was thinking, if you use marine oil or boat oil it should be good. A couple people recommended it a few pages back. Well, I'm still not going to choose anything with tcw3.... Just gonna go buy some amsoil stuff.

 

This is why I use Idemitsu. When all is said and done, it is made for rotaries. Pretty much idiotproof XD.\

 

Thing is, not everyone agrees its a good choice.

Some people think idemitsu is made specifically for race applications and have very specific reasons for thinking so.

I'm not so sure rotarygod was speaking about Idemitsu's premix there but perhaps only their racing engine oil. I actually asked in that thread if his remarks might also apply to premix but he didn't respond yet.

Im premixing with idemitsu premix. i saw someone posted PJ1 Goldfire Pro Premix Oil, are there any big difference betwen the two?

 

I don't think anyone used it yet... but what I used I notice the car being a bit different, it's like many things are smoother and im getting 90kms on a quarter tank (90km= 55mph)

 

From those posts, looks like RG is mainly worried about carbon buildup? In that case, what if you make sure you keep up with regular engine cleanings with decarbon stuff. Cover all bases.

 

Well i v noticed the better feul economy i get around 21.5 to 22 mpg although i would stilll drive it if it got 10 mpg. maybe its in my head tho about the whole MPG being better.

 

I've been using over a year this simple recipe each tank fill up and honestly can confirm better response in mileage, performance and engine response.

2 oz Lucas Upper Cylinder
2 oz Castrol 2 cycle
1.5 oz Lucas Octane Booster

Sounds like a good mix. Similar to mine but I use about 8 ounces, total.

 

Which Castrol 2-stroke?

I read that too much premix will cause damages, anything from 4 - 8 oz is safe each tank fill up...

How long have you been adding 8oz ?
