Nice try Rote!

Moved to pre-mix thread.

Pre-mix is pre-mix, and 1407 posts is surely enough.....

Question Pre-Mix??

What is all of this talk about premix? I have never put it in my car, and i have 90K miles. If so, what should i put in, how often? and what does it even do? thanks.

I use about 3-4 oz of Idemitsu rotary premix and 1-2 oz of FP+ with every fill-up. Helps lubricate the center apex seal on pre-09 Renesis and may help prevent carbon build-up.

Premix is anything you regularly pour into your gas tank. Usually people who premix are putting in types of 2-cycle oil and/or cleaners. This is done to keep the engine nice and lubed, and give added protection to the Apex seals, which many will argue are not lubricated as well as they should be. Basically it is a preventative measure to promote long engine life. I believe it is good in any situation, but anyone running a non-stock / more rigorous setup should strongly consider premixing. Sometimes people will report improved compression and smoother operation after premixing a few tanks, possibly due to the oil allowing the seals to make better contact with the engine surfaces. Some even report improved gas mileage. I don't recall ever hearing about premix doing harm, as long as you are minding the ratios of what you are mixing into the fuel.

This is basically me repeating what I've read on the forum, I am by no means an automotive or rotary expert.

^ I use the same mix too..

As far as how to mix it.. when I ordered my gallons of FP+ / LC20 (for oil), they came with a (12oz I think) measuring bottle with markings for ounces. I use a Mott's apple juice 8oz bottle that I fill just below half-way with Idemitsu, then pour 1.5oz of FP+ using the measuring bottle and I shake the bottle about 2 seconds so the two mix. The FP+ will make the blend a unified pink.. then it goes into the tank before gas is filled

I keep mine mixed in bottles and leave them in my car. What are you getting at? Mixing them beforehand is bad?

you're getting clean oil (maybe even 2 stroke oil meant to be burned) BUT the amount of oil remains the same as stock.

You can get the AP to further increase flow rates, and that would be a suitable replacement for premixing... I like to premix anyway though.

hmmmm so right now im considering a clear mid pipe, ap, and sohn adapter.

i think that will be it for a while. and i'm guessing i still should premix after getting the AP to increase the flow rate

AP + Pre-Mix + Sohn is probably overkill.....

Well even with the Sohn, we still only have the 2 spots on the seals where they put 3 spots for the 09's. Sohn can give you clean 2-cycle oil to burn, but still, maybe not enough overall coverage. AP can increase the flow, but is it enough flow to equal what premixing does? Maybe its not overkill. Probably just use a lower ratio. With the AP + Sohn already in play, maybe he can make do with half the premix or less than what everyone else would use.

Just thinking out loud, I have no facts.

Even with the Sohn adapter I've continued to premix 4 oz. per tank as an added measure.

Well it's more the AP that I wonder about premixing with. Sohn doesn't change the total flow, it still flows the same... but the AP can increase flow. So if you have that running at full capacity, would there be a point to premixing still? THAT is the question!

grrrrrrrrr i'd like to know, but im just thinking if the sohn adapter is used correctly, premixing then becomes obsolete.....unless say you are having a track day?
