paul, based on your previous findings, do you recommend to switch to synthetic as the car's first oil change? or if you buy the car used and its never had synethic, do you recommend sticking to non-synthetic for the life of the car?

you said that switching to synthetic when you are really up there in the miles will cause problems. but they shouldnt exist if one has been using synthetics since 30-35k miles, right?

<- worried now.

There is not a specific mileage at which I can say there will be a problem (For switching) but if you've been using synthetic for some time now I'd say you're safe. The earlier the switch is made the better. Again, the problem is that synthetics can potentially squeeze their way past old crappy seals. Dino oil changed on time and kept cool can preserve seals properly as well to a degree.

Paul.

Very Interesting..

I bet the Apex Seals are mooned (concave) like a banana!

I'm glad to see this thread is generating some interest.

Paul: JPR should be sending the engine core within a week or two. I can't wait for the autopsy report!

Paul, how much would it cost for mazmart do an engine rebuild all together? I'm in Socal. I'm at 77k and I'm bracing for a rebuild in the future.

Starting as cheap as $2400.

I think I will be contacting Mr. Mazmart soon . . .

or picking up an engine somewhere.

my engine met its limit last night

180,000 miles later . . .

I think I blew out my oil seal on my front rotor. everything spins smoothly, just smokes like hell and has NO power. Im so distraught!

More than an oil seal ;

That wouldn't cause much power loss..unless it is so bad it has fouled the plugs

Usually apex seals....try a compression test if you can find a tester to use..that would give you good info

if it was an apex seal it would not be smoking as bad as it was. I have had a rotary or two in my life time

If its spewing so much oil it fouled out the plugs, that would equal power loss . . .

either way, new engine

Yep, to me it sounds like and Oil Control Ring(s) has gone/worn out..

So you have done 180K on the "original" engine???..

If so that would be a record., and I would like to see the insides.

Uh how often where the coilz changed on the 180k? But that does sound more like what the renesis should get in the first place. Tampa so it's hot and humid climate but sea level barometrics. Whut brand fuel and octane too? Just curious 813KR$.

I am always very interested myself. We can all learn a thing a two from someone who has 180,000 miles on renesis. And I presume it is the original engine?

Please go to this link and add your info, it would help us all. Thanks.

813K,

Let me know if I can help. A 180k unit would be most interesting to see and inspect. I heard of one or two others with similar miles before. Maybe someone said they had 200k still driving?

PM me if need be.

Paul.
