What are the differences between the AT and the MT?

Also if you're gonna wanna do it right, you will need to tear apart half the car and install a new main wiring harness as the AT and MT are different. Then you will also need the two clutch pedal switches that are down there and who knows whatever else that's being over looked.
^ yea man, its not just this forum though, in real life too, lol, it kinda sucks and I'm kinda bored of driving an AT, this is my first AT car btw, before that was all stick( thanks to thailand's high automobile pricing) and I had a stick minivan, and a stick s2k, and I finally bought an AT on this car (which was omgzor deal) like I said, I bought it on a whim, I never knew about the rx-8, all I cared about was the FD at that moment, but I really liked the car and how it handles, (the rpm was about the same as the FDs, so I figured wtf probably ok 212 hp, not so bad) walla, I was happy with my car for about..........4weeks? then I found this forum......
to sum it up, I'm just bored and want to drive MT again(although its gonna be a bitch in this kind of fucked traffic)

One day I will be one of them I hope (old people) and will be too lazy or simply cant step on the Clutch fast enough to do the shift.
Dont feel bad for now, 8 is a great car no matter what. Just live with it for now, if you still want Ultimate performance maybe 1-2 years down the road , then you trade it in. or perhaps wait for 1.55 (16C) Renesis 2 !
Would you care to post the Vin number of your car, just in case any parts of it survive you. I want to make sure that no one inherates your deathtrap. I'll just post it on car fax and leave you to your insanity. From the way you talk the car is most likey thrashed anyway. Too bad Cali is so liberal with drivers licenses. You obviously are upside down with the present payment and not able to trade it for the MT that you think you need. I'm not sure how the courts would look at libility by internet but who knows in Cali stranger things have happened.

You're assuming way to many things, his car is practically mint. One of the cleanest 8's I've seen but it's an AT. All he wants to do is convert it to an MT and then you jump in assuming that he's an irresponsible person. That's some assumption you have their buddy. I understand what you're trying to say, you don't want another person to be cheated out on a car deal especially if it was abused by a reckless driver, but, please don't assume that tajabaho1 is a bad driver or owner. He just simply can't afford a trade-in for an MT, especially with all the mods he put into it hence the reason why he wants to do an AT to MT conversion.

Sell the MT and ECU. Someone out there (teenager? wife?) has certainly trashed theirs somehow. Take some of the "free labor" you were going to spend on the switch and do some mods for friends at the shop. That should give you enough money to compensate for the trade-in.

You might be right but the way you sound with your posts is not conducive to that warm and fuzzy feeling for safety, yours and others. You can do what ever you wish to your car but some of the things that you have suggested worries me for other people on the road. Now maybe your just playing with some of your suggestions or maybe you really do know how to do the changes but you do not make it sound like that. I guess I should just butt out.

phil, I'm so sad that you haven't met me at SSX, everyone that met me know that I am post whoring on this forum, lol, I re read them and they don't even make sense, but this thread I am actually asking for help, cus, well, I'm actually trying to do this for real, if its wayyy too much, then I'll live with the AT, then probably do something else to the tranny.....
