Sick-um Erik. If I had your record of whipping *** on the engineers I'd be driving a new Mazda RX8. I was trying to blame the driver for your problems in post 45 but you choose to ignore it

I felt like being nice to you Phil. You do that to me.
As of right now, I'm no t feeling nice. Yesterday Mazda had one of there top RX8 engineers over to look at my car. Fiddled with it all day. Found nothing wrong with it. I pick the car up drive for 10 minutesand it backfires between 1st and 2nd when I shift at 5000 rpm. Then it has a flat/hesitation at 4250 rpm. And seems a little slow. So I floored it this morning on the way to work in third gear, after about 10 minutes of driving. It got to 6250 rpm and wouldn't go any higher. And then the CEL came on.
I saw all these things happen right after Mazda looked at it and found nothing. WTF? The dealer had it for a total of 4 days.

Sounds like what Dommion is telling you is your best bet, take them for a drive.

Oh they have been for a drive and they have seen the Dyno chart. It's not the dealer, they are doing everything they can think of. It's MAZDA!
The latest reason for the backfiring and hesitation and NO POWER, was due to the MAZDA Engineer leaving off a vacuum hose. The one that opens the actuator for the secondary system in the intake. So I had no secondaries and had a large vacuum leak.
And for making me go through this Mazda said put a new set of spark plugs in it. Now back to the original problem.
I am still looking for that 30 horse power that is missing.

You don't think that Mazda would lie to you about the horse power do you ?

sorry easy for the threadjack again
Sorry I won't answer that here. There has been too many meandering threads on this forum lately and Also out of curtisory (sp) to Erick.

WTF ? I feel your frustration about the Vac hose. I just don't understand what the root cause would be. I wonder if it could be something as simple as bad O2 sensor.

you had secondaries alright. just not enough airflow to burn all that extra fuel.

Sorry Dave, Yes I had Secondary injector function just not the AF. Forgive me for being so stupid as to not distinguish between what was really going on.

I told the dealer that I am probably going to buy some coils and wires and dyno again. Just to see what happens.
If that 30+- hp shows up or a good part of it I am going to, to, or worse!

Hey Arnold,,
They just put new plugs in yesterday. The plugs I had before had about 15,000 miles on them and the were a light toasty tan color with minimal deposits of any kind.
I appreciate the thoughts though.

Sorry, i wasn't saying or implying that you didn't know what your were talking about. It was for the newer members that may not know how the intake tract works.

I was trying to keep little fingers away from the keyboard at the same time.. So i didnt get to proofread it well.

Hi there, i had the same problem like you right after i changed to a particular engine oil. It gives out a "sound of a small backfire" for 1-3 gear at 5000rpm.
Its loudest from transition from 1st to 2nd gear. Did Mazda say its something wrong? All these while, i thought its supposed to be good?

Anyway, my CEL went on yesterday as i've not driven it for the past 2 days, it went into limp mode and i cant rev more than 2000rpm.

My car is OTW to the workshop now. Will keep you guys updated.

Do let me know what did Mazda says ok?

Thanks alot
