turbo question...
Ok so I was wondering about the small universal turbo set ups you find on ebay for like 600 dollars (I know they do not have everything with them and you have to buy a few extra parts). My question is has anybody ever tried to do this to their car, rx8 or not.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I'm gonna go out and buy this right now because I would really like to save up for a Pettit supercharger kit, I'm just wondering if it would be worth it and if anyones whos tried this kind of thing had any sort of success.

doubt it's worth it. Most of those turbos are cheap chinese pieces of junk.
The tubing will need to be custom done, you'll need a new manifold, and the turbo might not be the optimal size so you'll end up with too little boost, or boost at too high of an rpm range, or it craps out over 7k (ie; greddy), etc
Best best is to do it right. Save up for the kit of your choice and go from there.
The pettit is nice but have you seen the new Hymee SC? sexy.

lol thats what I thought, Like I said I'm trying to save up for a Pettit kit, its just that a friend sent me the link to one for his eclipse (which of course was the same kit for every sports car in the world) and it just got me thinking if it actually could work maybe it would be worth tinkering with

if I was going SC route, I'd go hymee. Tons of R&D went into that thing PLUS he has AWESOME tuning software for it.

SC's are awesome but I'm addicted to the sound of a sweet HKS Blow off Valve.
It'll be turbo for me when the time comes...
Either way, an FI RX-8 is a thing of beauty
