slash128's Top Mount Build

I've read countless(ok, only 3 that I can remember) threads about push/pull starting and driving the car for weeks to get compression in check. Don't count yourself out just yet. Get out there and get the car started. Drive it around as much as you can. We're all rooting for you

I appreciate the suggestion about push starting it but the way it's looking I don't have a lot of confidence and I really can't risk not getting it back in the garage.
I might be able to use a block and tackle to pull it back in lol.

Tear it down and check. Better than pull starting and destroying something (if you still hear that grinding)
I know compression doesn't read optimal till after 3k miles (ish) but damn that's a lot of differences out the gate..

winch possibly? They are cheap from Harbor Freight. Pulley system using the dodge and opening the last bay door?

I have seen many home builds act like this. I remember Shadyscrews first engine that he built when he was in Cali did this, it took like a month to get it to where it would idle and then at the socal dyno day it put down 218WHP NA. That engine lasted like 40k until he blew an apex destroying a Mazdaspeed 3 on an unfinished tune.
Another one that comes to mind was flashwing, they had to tow start the **** out of his for days, if not weeks to get it to run and his engine lasted a good long while.

I've actually been contemplating this and looking at HF winches lol. Just trying to figure out where to attach the pulley that won't pull my house down. I don't need a broken car AND house

I'm crossing my fingers that it's just the starter giving up the ghost after being abused!

Oo-Oo-Oo... I think I might have an idea. I could use this to tow start AND back it into the garage if it doesn't start. Thoughts? I'm delirious at this point so any cautions would be taken thankfully...

Once you get it started it will take bit to get it to idle and even holding the revs up at idle doesn't always work right away. When it's moving and under load and can't really stall unless the compression is really bad. But it's tricky driving it around if you have to stop, etc.

I don't think you want to use that dolly going back up that drive3way. you'll know the pain the stance guys go through everyday

I *think* backing up wouldn't be bad. I've got clearance in the back. It's the front that has clearance issues. I would leave the front bumper off for this exercise and hopefully be able to drop the front right on the dolly without pushing up the ramps. Since I would have to dolly it out I *should* find out pretty quickly whether or not it will work. Thoughts?

U-Haul won't rent me the car dolly, says it's not compatible with the RX8. Going for broke. Fazda is coming over today and we are going to pull start it...
