I've been out too, the car's in storage, it might be quite a while before she runs again. I cobbed it and disconnected the battery then covered it for a long stay.
I sold me house and am living homeless, everything got moved and is in storage. i've been living in my moms rv and working on their house, my sisters roof, and my inlaws house. I leave tomorrow for another 40 days to saudi arabia. When I get back I'm hoping I can get all the work done on the family houses before I go to work again.

The overalll plan has changed. I've paid off every bill I owe except storage and we're planing on just buying a rv then living on the road until the oilfield turns around and See where I find a job when it does. I'm kind o hoping that it stays slow for another year or 2 so we can just travel the us and live on vacation.

How do you know if a fan has failed? Does it throw a code?

Coolant temp started getting abnormally high while idling or driving in low speed traffic.

PS no code. Monitoring temp with aftermarket gauge.

Okay damn, I'm certain I'm noticing much higher coolant temps than I used to but I'm noticing even while cruising on highway.

Typically, when cruising at highway speeds, what coolant temp do you usually see; say at like 85F ambient? I swear I used to see around like 185F but this past weekend I wasnt even able to drop it down past 196F after it got up to like 205F in stop and go traffic.

It has been in the 80's here lately and typically I see 185 cruising on flat highway. With the A/C on or if the highway isn't so flat it gets a little bit warmer. At a stop light the temp would generally stay right around 185-190. When the fan went out I knew something was up because I saw it climb to 210 sitting at a light with the A/C on. I cruisded around at slower speeds 30mph and it came down a little but not much. I'm still driving like this. It's fine at speed. It's only a problem if I sit still with the A/C on for awhile.

Hmmm, okay thanks, I'm definitely running way too hot (knew I wasn't going crazy!). This was all with my AC off. I do still hear my fans running when I shut the car off though, so I'm gonna have to do a little research and figure out what's going on.

Only one of my fans went out, the passenger side. I can still hear the other. Could be the same for you.

Hi Jason,

Suggestion...Apply a slight amount of pressure to the connector where it plugs into the fan when they are cycled on.

Thanks, I'll try but I already put 12V directly to the fan motor terminals and no-go...

Hey RX-Tuner, so I decided to give your tip a shot. Wiggling or pressing on the connector didn't do anything, but I decided I would try to put 12V directly to it again just for fun. It didn't spin up at first but then it briefly spun and quit. I started looking a bit closer with a light and the neg terminal looked corroded. A little contact cleaner and it spun up fine. I looked in the connector on the harness side and it was slightly darker on the neg side and the contact appeared looser than the positive side. I tried bending the contact closed a bit and the plastic started to crumble and underneath was black like it was burned. So it appears it was a loose connection that heated up and melted the connector. I suppose you have run into this before, hence your suggestion.... Do you happen to sell the harness connectors? Seems my fan is fine and I just need a new connector. Worst case I can try the salvage yard....

BTW - thanks for the suggestion

No worries, glad to help Slash! Yes, this is not the first occurrence of the connector issue, we have encountered it several times actually. I did check for you and unfortunately the spare harness's I have here are all missing that connector.

Thanks for checking, sounds like they all got used for the same issue haha!

I think I am in good shape. I pulled the connector apart and tightened up the metal female section and it's been working the past couple days. Temps are back to normal 185F with 80F ambient I'll wait to see if it fails again before getting concerned...

Thanks!

Still waiting for 90's and 100's but so far I think my high temps last year were due to that kink in my lower rad hose I found this winter. 183F coolant temp sitting in traffic with 80F ambient and A/C on full blast.

Found these lowering springs at my local grocery store. Thoughts? They even come in custom colors, sweet
