Nice, ho hard was it to rebuild yourself? Maybe I should have done that and saved some cash

well since my turbo was already taken apart the rebuild only took about 15-20 minutes If you needed to take everything apart and then rebuild I would say the project should be completed within an hour. There really isn't much to a turbo in terms of seals and bearings.

Torque settings and lubrication is the key to a successful rebuild. youtube has some great instructional videos on rebuilding a t3/t4 turbo.

Cool, maybe next time I will go that route.

just looking around and came across this product by vibrant. Looking to get some feedback from you guys. Do you think that using one vacuum line to a chamber like this would result in poor vacuum readings? Or, would this be a nice clean mod to reduce tee fittings?

Where would you use the main vacuum/boost source from? Vfad nipple?

I think that would be relatively handy except if you wanted to get pressure sources from different locations you are still kinda screwed

I would use the main from the vfad.

But I think I would still use the vacuum nipple that I have on my c6 charge tube for my boost controller. That way it pics up boost pre TB

^ you would use c6 charge pipe for the boost gauge of the EBC or the solenoid for the actuator control?

Because I want to tie my boost gauge on my EBC into the Jet air hose just off C6 also... but with the stupid Canada Post strike all my **** is tied up at the 49th parallel!

c6 for EBC.
I have fix number 2 down by the turbo for solenoid.

I will have my jet air down off the intake pipe (pre turbo with a check valve). My c6 pipe has an extra bung on it which I think was intended for jet air. In my case I will use that for the EBC

^ yeah thats exaclty what I am going to do too (minus Jet air hose location), right now my fix number 2 is just capped off with my soleniod getting its signal from the Jet air hose to account for losses through the IC.

The other thing I'd like to get my head around is the loud sucking noise coming from my OMP line right attached to my intake just after the MAF.... if you get that you should let me know. The only other person I have heard about getting that noise upgraded to the AEM style intake and doesn't get the sound anymore apparently

I have the aem style (MS) intake. Check your omp oil injectors. If they are making a sucking noise then they are not holding vacuum. That would be the first thing I would check into. All you need to do is remove the UIM and test each injector. Mine are not holding vacuum very well so I will be replacing them soon. Sucks that they are expensive though.

You will notice one minor drawback in doing it that way . If you set your overboost warning close to actual boost , you will get it going off a lot at part throttle . Don't worry about it because the benefits far outweigh that one small drawback.

Yeah I figured the check valves may have gone on one or more of the oil injectors because upon initial installation... even though I wasn't hitting positive manifold pressures, I had my OMP line and Jet Air hose swapped.... and there was most likely higher pressure in the charge tube than my UIM, but I have been pre-mixing anyway so I imagine it should hold out until I find the money to replace my OMP injectors..... God damn BHR taking all my money in glorious aftermarket products!!

Will most likely not be setting my overboost function that close to my set boost.... I mean I get by just fine without one as is now and as long as I keep monitoring AFR's I can't see it being too big of a deal...

Edit: Speaking of which; I am going to ask this before I search (I know, I'm a rebel) but is there somewhere that would sell aftermarket oil injectors or am I stuck going to the Stealership for OEM ones?

I haven't checked to see if any injectors are in the market other than OEM but I'm sure somewhere someone is making them. You can always check into part outs. I premix too. Its just sad that my sohn reservoir is full of idemitsu and its not flowing it through the injectors

There are several maintenance issues that have prolonged my build. Its super frustrating. My wallet needs a theropist.

Yeah I might check into a salvage yard or something but I'm not expecting those idiots to know how to get the oil injectors without attempting to sell me the entire engine (which I can't afford on the wage of a University Student!!). I'm thinking that I should bump this up a little bit on my list of priorities because now that I talk about it, it bugs me more and more!

It bothers me too. I almost want to buy a salvage motor for rebuild.

^ I meant the injectors making that noise bothers me; not having a back-up motor haha

I don't feel like I'm pushing the envelope enough to need a back-up motor.

I know what you meant.

I am just saying, Having oil injectors not working makes me want to have an entire second motor

speaking of steering. Mine has been "lumpy" at cold startups. instantly goes away when you turn the wheel all the way. not sure what is causing this.

Yeah mine was being lame. I was at a light and the steering wheel turned all the way to the right like it was possessed. I would have been in trouble if it did it at 80MPH or mid turn. I replaced the harness and that worked for a while but finally it ended up being fixed (fingers crossed) after I cleaned every connector with MAF cleaner real good.
