Yeah, Morkus, face the facts... how many sc'd cars are out there,

Everyone seems to want a turbo, which is fine, but those of us who appreciate a supercharger are few in number, especially with what happened to our Aussie mates.

I'll lay odds I have the nicest s/c'd '8 in the country. Period. 16,000 miles. only 1600 on the Pettit Kit that Moon the Master installed. It's showroom all over, even under...I have a lift. Know what? I need to sell her because of disability, but I can,t GIVE it away to any of the fanbois that populate this site and who can't do basic math, who want to push a 1.3 liter two stroke six "cylinder" motor to 400 hp and beyond and jack off to Fast And Furious every night. Then they **** and moan when they blow an exhaust seal or some other known problem when you thrash this great car way beyond what it was ever engineered for, who can't be satisfied with 300 rwhp (mm be damned)' no, they will go buy a cheap hi mileage beater and stuff a big turbo init and then beat the ever lovin' dogshit out of it. They can'T grasp a clean, well engineered supercharged car and be happy with it. Basically, hardly anyone on this site wants to pay to play, but they can sure as hell be a bunch of internet poseurs. Juan and Denny were the gods of this setup; Kane, Charles Hill, Cam Pettit made this forum run in spite of Jeff and a bunch of short-dicked smart guys with bad attitudes. Face it, if not for Pettit racing, we'd all be talking about turbos and nitrous, and guys like me who love this car/supercharger combo better than any other car on earth, can't sell a great car for a decent price, because like you said Morkus, my friend (yep, respect to you)' this forum is as dead as the RX8 Development Division at Cobb Engineering.

Very true, but I challenge you on the best built SC'ed Rx8 out there lol. lololololol jk

I believe a lot of the discussion and information has moved to social media sites and has left the forums.

--- BTW guys I need a little help. With the frigid temperatures here in NYC the liquid inside the heat exchangers FROZE. This sucks. Any alternatives out there that wont freeze. Also The SC burns oil pretty rapidly. is this normal?

Best built no, absolutely not. Best condition as relates to showroom, yeah. Not bragging, just making a point.

Sorry to hear about the heat exchangers; might want to bypass them for the winter, As far as oil consumption, what is "a lot?"

I knew that would turn into a pissing contest
I'd take that challenge too

Omar - the SC shouldnt burn any oil at all
It's a sealed system so if you're losing oil its going somewhere

Use a little coolant in the tank
The intercooler is very effective...mine has gotten so cold before that it gets moisture/frost on it lol

haha yes it has.

And Zenrx8 - dont fall into the market. Raise the price up on your car to 18k-20k and keep it there. Selling your car at $11,500 does us no good. Our cars are not ment to be sold on the internet. Take it to some rotary events meet people and make contacts, Youll get your asking price. Most of the people who want these cars don't have time for the internet or read up on forums much. $11,500 is a joke and makes it look like somthing is wrong with your car.

The price for a supercharger has held strong at around $6k-$7500. Your saying a prestine RX8 is only worth $4000?

Just checked the dipstick and the oil is barley touching it. And it was blue in color when I put it in. Now its clear. Weird. Its the oil from Kenne bell themselves. They rebuilt my SC with all new parts.

LMAOOOOOOO I think I have a pretty solid build of a car. If I took out the interior and added a cage it should be track worthy. And Thanks with coolant advice. Greg put me on to some good stuff.

Pettit has a sealed oil system. So like a gearbox or diff you should not be loosing oil unless you have a leak somewhere.

My Hymee system uses engine oil whoever it only provides oil to the gears and the supercharger lobes that compress air does not consume oil.

Yea thats what I figured. I remember reading somewhere here in this thread Denny saying he burned some SC oil at the track and had to top off. I wonder if maybe because we are have below zero temps it froze lol jk.

Check the seals on the SC casing and the front seal around the shaft

Marcos, brother, I hear you, but I had it listed on Auto Trader VIP for 9 months and got exactly 1 call and 10 inquiries, Right now I have to sell this car. It has to go, at this point Id consider myself lucky to sell it for what I paid for just the car. If you have any ideas, let me know. i appreciate your thoughts, though.

It has some performance improvements for airflow and less air resistance.
If anyone's interested just txt me 478-six97-2four72

Help needed

OK so how do I explain this:

My intercooler heat exchanger system isn't working...

The Problem:

There is no fluid pumping threw the heat exchangers up to the intercooler.

My observation:

I disconnected the hose that goes FROM the pump into the Heat Exchangers into a bucket and it pumps the liquid only when I tilt the tank connected to the pump 90Degrees.

I reconnected the hose. Then I disconnected the hose that goes FROM the heat exchangers to the intercooler into a bucket. The pump was unable to pump the liquid threw the heat exchangers up to the intercooler.

The bucket in both experiments was put on the floor for one trial and also leveled with the pump for a second trial.

Information:

The system was working fine. I was using water and water wetter as recommend in the installation guide. But in doing so here in NYC we had below zero temps for months and snow and ice storms and the liquid froze solid. Since it froze solid THATS when this problem occurred. It froze so much that the lid to the liquid tank cracked open.

In conclusion:

Because the liquid froze could this have damaged the heat exchangers?????

I read something about the pump prime?????

Update: 3/19/14

Thanks guys for the advice. I Siphoned the pump with a Siphon pump and the pump started flowing like Niagara Falls...

I Checked my Oil catch can that I have connected to the SC and BAM there was the missing oil from the supercharger. I guess running the car a couple of times with out the intercooler running properly; the SC ran hot a spitted some oil into the can...

I reapplied the SC oil. cleaned the catch can. I drained the Intercooler water and replaced it with 50/50 antifreeze... Thanks guys I'm back to SC motoring.

You need to reprime the pump
When you mount it make sure the pump is below the reservoir

Keep those prices high. I'd sit on mine to get any less then around that number myself. There's no turbo kits with the records that the pettit kits achieved.

I'll try and post one tonight, but I hope this description helps in the meantime: The tensioner pulley bolt should be pointing ~30 degrees or so to the left from vertical and should fit snug in the bracket. To increase the tension on the belt, you actually turn the bolt counter-clockwise.

It's the opposite of what you think
Only part of the kit that I think needs to be reengineered
If you cant get enough adjustment with one nut on one side and another on the other side try putting both of them on the outside
Hope that makes sense
Call me if you need some clarification
