It happened baby!
2011 Monster upgrade programme:

Firstly, to complete the car, the engine was removed at the end of the 2010 season after our great test session at Rockingham.

It was sent over to the Pettit engine lab in the US for a rebuild and some improvements, up to a "Pettit built" spec, with some added improvements, like laser cut apex seals to fit tougher seals for FI use, and also to fit a Greddy Sump, for added oil capacity, improved cooling, and even more importantly, internal baffling, as when i had done some sprinting etc in the past, the oil warning light came on when the car was being chucked about. An added bonus with the Greddy sump was the extra tap hole, which meant I ordered and added an extra HKS CAMP sensor to my system, for oil temperature.

Ready to drop in:

Skippy playing with his sump:

Once the engine was back together and in, it was time for the next parts, to complement it, the new Pettit full exhaust system:
[PICS TO FOLLOW]

This should entail a great air flow from the manifold back, eliminating the significant back pressures we recorded during testing. Once everything is run in I cant wait to see how everything flows....

It also saved a great deal of weight! 7KG for the full exhaust system.

Talking of weight saving, the OZ ultraleggeras were finally clad in new rubber, from Goodyear, a set of Eagle F1s in 245/40/18 for the front 18 x8 ET 48
For the rear 18 x 9 ET 35, we slapped on some lovely wide 265/35/18s

They were fixed with chrome finished lightweight "tuner style" nuts, including locking nuts.

The stance worked out perfectly, as the front set also add the 8mm offset built into the Pettit BBK, which is shown off fantastically by the new wheels, and also has tremendous clearance for the callipers

Another nice touch was the Drift tall shift **** which I am really liking.

Weight savings:
Exhaust: 7 KG
Wheels:
Front 2 kg per corner OZ ultraleggera
Rear 1KG a corner OZ

Brakes:
Front 1.8 KG a corner Pettit BBK

Lightweight tuner nuts: Approx 0.75KG over set

TOTAL SAVING:
10.35 KG rotational / unsprung weight
17.35 KG total saving

Now 17KG is a fair old chunk!

Got the Alleggerita HLT on my car, they're really nice, the car seems much "lighter" in low speeds when hitting the gaz, it's a pleasure, but you FI'd guys doesn't care so much with that i guess !

Shifting with your left hand is easy, Its the turn signals that always mess me up in RHD cars.

I drove right handed drive cars for 3 years while living in Jamacia and i actually was able to corner better. But, downshifting was sometimes a monkey fight.
You car is looking really good mate.

Anyone want to buy my car? Having one of those days where I just don't know if it's worth the effort anymore. It may be time for a new project.

Whats going on jskup?
Believe you me at times and fairly recently I have had some of the same thoughts, but I am always glad I changed my mind.
I have looked long and hard for a car that would substitute for mine-----and I can not find one that is in a sub 45K price range. The closest I got was a used Porsche Cayman. Great car, but maintainence ( better than the usual Porsche) costs, inaccessability of the engine, 2 seater and little room, road noise and insurance costs turned me away. I looked at the Mustang 302 Boss but dealership mark up is going to place the car at close to 50K + a lot of the performance numbers for that car is due to the special performance tires that are about $400-$500 apiece to replace after 20K miles, I looked at the E 46 M3--great car--but it is now 5-6 years old(2006 model-last year produced) so things are going to start going wrong. I have nephrew that is a master BMW tech in town and he tells me the car aint cheap to work on. Even for a diy person. I looked at the 370Z for about 5 minutes and said, " you have to be kidding!"
Either the other cars are too expensive, too heavy, not enough room, or just butt ugly. there is nothing like the Rx8 out there----yet.
I am glad Karma helped me with my latest decision. Hang in there bro. This engine is starting to give up some of its mysteries.

Well, it started 2 weeks ago when some stupid bitch in an SUV hit it in a parking lot and TRIED to take off (Camera phones are great!) Anyways, it's been in the shop since and they haven't even started repairing it yet because it's taking forever for the shop and insurance to agree on the suplemental coverage. I had a ton of fun building the car up, but now it's done. I'm not buying stuff for it so I don't have the excitement of my 'next' part getting delivered or anything. I hardly drive it, in fact I'm going to buy a new mustang convertible this weekend as my daily driver. I still love the car and nothing compares to it. I'm just debating on whether I'd rather have something to work on again. If I did go a different route, I think it would be for a classic car this time. Don't know if I could sell it anyway. I would under no circumstance part it out. I'll probably snap out of this when I get it back lookin' all purty again.

Rotr8, Florida is main Pettit.

Parts come from all over though, as Pettit just source good stuff from wherever. For example the supercharger in the kit came from Sweden.

The exhaust was developed in conjunction with Milltek Sports a very well known exhaust maker over here:

Oh ok--i see what ya mean. This will pass. When mine was up on its home made stands for 2 months I sure was entertaining the same idea.
But when you get it back and you start driving it again ( need to get it on track dude!) all those questions go out the window. You will realize once again how special of a car this is.
I too looked at the mustangs hard. Ford has come a LONG way toward right. But, while I was driving that brembo package GT I saw 5 other Mustangs.

Man that is a nice looking exhaust. My RB was 1 of the 1st 5 built, what , 7 years ago?
It still is fine and shines up nice if I would work on it. The tips dont take much work.
I am running the mazsport resinated midpipe and I am thinking about getting the RB one. The Mazsport pipe is real close to the 09 trans I have --the 09 trans is that much bigger.

Juan lips are nice, but you really have to secure it to get all you can out of it. The support up front is limited. You doing this because you want too or because of handling problems? Remember if you change one thing you usually have to change another? If you are not running R compound tires whats the point? Throw some hoosiers on there and become a hoosier your daddy dude! that will open your eyes man.

Well--- engine is doing great. I am going to send a set of injectors off for cleaning and balancing in prep for a different tune. I will not even put a good load on this engine (after break in is finished) until I have a different tune. Heck my timing at 5100 rpm and 170-180 load is already at 20 and it stays flat all the way up. a/f of 11.1 per oem sensor, ect 182. I have never heard any detonation or pinging on the 93 octane we have here + w/m spraying, but to me thats a little more advanced than what I want. Most FI guys are running 11-12 degrees at those figures? Anyway , with a little help from a friend, i will start using the Cobb.
only 1000 miles more to go for break in to be complete. This is going to be fun

Cam doesnt like putting engines on a dyno does he?
