Pettit Super Charger Owners
#7301
Just a little note that might make things easier - there are big, red plastic dust plugs in the intake and discharge side of the supercharger. They're a little hard to see, but if you look closely with a good light, you'll find them. A little tricky, but don't give up. There's no marking on them that says to remove them, so some installers have just decided to leave them in place because they fit the ports so nicely.
If you leave them in place after you get the entire supercharger installed, they will through off AFRs just enough that the motor will barely run, and the possibility exists that you will do this for a few months checking your plugs, your wires, your seals, deflooding the motor, putting in fresh gas, and other usual RX8 'get my motor started' stuff.
So other than that, good luck. Just sayin

Thought I would pass this on for a laugh;
Car would not turn over; click only.
Bad battery?
Had the battery tested:
Voltage for the battery was 12.36 and CCA was down to 71! (Yes, that is seventy-one cold cranking amps)
The catch is, my car was starting normally like this for a while. (I have 9 to 1 rotors)
My starter sounds like a jet now...

cool --i may need to talk to him.
By the way i have redesigned my secondary radiator install. I now have it mounted on the undertray. I also placed a small puller fan UNDER it to exhaust on the road. I did this because we have had a string of 100F days here and during extended stop and go traffic I was getting to 202F with a/c on.
I didnt like that temp with that low load driving.
So far it has worked out well. I can filp the switch on and in 1-2 minutes a 10 degree reduction occurs. Now I can set in traffic , a/c fully blasting, 98F ambient and coolant temp of 180-190F Success!
I tried 1st with the fan on top of the cooler and using it as a pusher--that didnt work nearly as well.
Air has to move to cool.

cool! Nice pics Juan.
I just got the mag (redline mag) today I was in. It was an invitation thing, with about 35 cars of all kinds, from road cars, to heavily modified cars, to super extreme track and drag cars.
It was at Santa Pod, the UK's main drag venue, and was on the 1/4 and a sprint circuit. Seeing as I had just installed my new clutch, and replaced my old kit plastic bypass valve with the new billet one (after my plastic one exploded on a track at 100mph, causing me to poo myself a little!), I took it easy on the 1/4 basically cos I am not bothered by drag strips, as in my eyes the 8 is not at home on a strip. I only went up it a couple of times basically just to get to the other end, as that's where the handling circuit was!
I posted some pics here a while ago, after the actual event.

Not much of the other cars, but here is a link to some of them, on another forums thread...

Anyway, on the handling circuit, I came 3rd out of 23!
I think that's pretty amazing, for a road car, with road tyres, and stock brakes and suspension (aside from my Pettit Front ARB).
The 2 in front of me were both Fensport (A well respected UK Toyota tuner) race cars, one a famous UK car (600hp+ Celica, used for Time Attack etc) and the other a Fensport sprint racer, both totally stripped out race cars, with track slicks on, and both of them less than a second in front of me! Sweeeeet!
I suffered a little cone blood..... but it soon buffed out!
It was a great fun day, and the mag is a good one too.
I will post up some more info etc tomorrow.

hello peeps,
I am really tempted to buy the Petit Racing SS from the UK. However I have an issue. Where I live, plp dont know much about turbo/ss with rx8's. The garage I am intented to do it has awesome knowledge about pistons/boxer engines (subaru,evo,z350,honda......) They onces turbod a greddy but the engine blew. They claimed that the engine was already wrongly fixed at once and that there was nothing they could do.
Hence I am not going to turbo, but very very tempted about Petit SS, since its a bold on kit, I hope its easier to install and maintain.
What you guys think. Would it be wise to let the installation be done by somebody who has limited knowledge of wankels?
Anything I should look at or focus on? Issues I might face in the future? Or should I just stay away?

although there were several issues with the greddy turbo kit as supplied/designed, thats really irrelevant. the KEY to keeping the motor alive is tuning. if you do not have an EXCELLENT tuning source, dont even bother unless you like replacing/rebuilding motors. This applies to all FI Renesis engines turbo, supercharged, it doesnt matter. there are a small number of people who seem to have a decent grasp on tuning for our motor... but only a VERY few who are really good at it and truely know what they are doing

they blew an engine and blamed the kit - that tells me they don't know enough right there .....
