You saw this was a low reading Mustang dyno?

Riddle me this, timing at 16 degrees, load of 200%, AFR at 10.8-10.9, boost pressure 13 PSI, I made a WHOLE 250WHP of a "calibrated" dyno........same run I pulled 4.9 Volts on the MAF Sensor in an AEM housing (no misfires either).

Which piece of equipment was probably screwed up, my engine, my log, my MAF or the dyno???? Boost is irrelevent, the MAF Volts however, tell the story of what really happened. And to prove a point, I made the dyno owner drive my car, and then refund my money.

Obviously the dyno was screwed up . No question .

In pdxhaks case - it's not the dyno because we saw what he made at 5 psi (which was way low) and that was on a dyno that everyone else was using and getting ok numbers on.
And - he hasn't changed his setup since .

Man I hate visiting this thread. I dont regret my car change..but I'm always going to wonder what kind of numbers my Turbo really could have put down with a good tune.

We will see what happens when I put it on the dynojet. No matter how you slice it though I have gained 100whp with a solid tune.

Still a great result- no question . I'm not trying to suggest it isn't .
But I believe there is an issue with your setup (and have done since I saw the first dyno) .

If everyone else thinks it's fine , then i guess you should ignore me .

Remember, I made 26 rwhp more than the stock '09, so if you think my number was good as you say, why was the '09 at 164 and not higher?

Good point, if the stock cars were all running 190 or so, then I'd be looking at my set-up as well.

At the end of the day, devistion from the standard is all you have to gauge what was done right. SO if you started at 190 and got to 290.... you will at least know that you drove off making X% more than you drove on with.

funny, this was a factory stock block car on the same dyno just three months earlier

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=701

that number for a factory car is not really unusual, people who think an S2 is a significant improvement over the S1 WRT output are kidding themselves, not to mention that you still haven't traced down the cause of the knovking sound in your engine. 1+1 = 2 in my book ...

^^^ Hey, substantiating data!!!

Ok, can we get that MAF log in Volts instead of g/sec? That would help to tell the tale.

AFRs were richer for all of us well. The AP was reading a point lower or there about than the dyno.

When are you ever going to believe that PSI also tells a tale ? I can see us arguing this one to our graves .

As long as the MAF is reasonably calibrated and the majority of target AFRs are close to actual I don't see what difference it makes

As soon as I unlearn everything I know about air pressure, and fluid dynamics...

I have seen some truly jacked MAF curves (g/sec wise) - but volts don't really lie...

*Raises hand* Guilty. I once thought I was seeing over 420G/s at 4.6v
Though I did end up seeing well above 4.7v range with a stock maf tube...wich I can tell you is alot of powa!

Perhaps if i gave you an excellent example of what I'm talking about from this very forum , you would see why what you know, is not in question here ...

except that MAF voltage is a raw number that isn't calibrated to anything meaningful, you are making several wild assumptions ...

Didn't we like, JUST have this argument????

If there are clouds in the sky, every time I run faster than a 7 min mile, does that mean clouds make me run faster?

ummm... hot wire MAF sensors need no calibration other than the knowledge of the diameter/shape of the MAF tube...

Yes and no, that is why the housing size is important. You are correct that like the SFR kit, with a 3" MAF housing, has to be scaled. But if we are close enough to the correct housing size, it can be more useful that those who scale the MAF to cover up injector scale problems, fuel VE% problems, and many other maps that people like to ignore.
