k&n will have a shape to fit and or will make a custom one for ya----spent this much time and effort building it up---dont go without a filter--it would be your luck someone would kick up dirt/dust right in front of ya--.
Us Pettit guys did analysis sq area needed for the aiflow and our typical round tapered 6 " long k&N was too small.
Found a bigger k%N that fit. No more asthma.

Look at it this way:
What is the diameter of your exhaust? Your intake need be no larger than that since no mass is created or destroyed in the combustion process.
The same mass of air going in will be going out.
Since the density of the exhaust is an order of magnitude less than the intake charge, an equally sized intake diameter to the exhaust is more than sufficient.
The diameter and area of the filter is somewhat incalculable if you don't know the drop across the element.

/\ If your boost controller has a pressure readout you don't need another readout of the same thing on your guage .

How well does the apv "seal"?
Is there something you can do to increase the off use sealing of that valve?
Is it worth to even bother with it?
Am I crazy?
Whats my dogs name?

why would you be concerned about that ? Any leakage is just going to go into the combustion chamber ...

So apparently RX-8 POS transmissions don't like 325+ ft-lbs of torque.....fail

Ugh, you grenaded your transmission chickenwafer? That sucks man, I'm sorry to hear that. Granted you are rolling with epic torque, but still. How much is a new transmission going to run you?

Forgive me for trying to have a conversation with Dan. He has more insight than Google.

And a dumb question, Jorge? God forbid I ask a question, right? How about YOU tell me where DAN got his gearset hardened at? Thanks

A used RX-8 trans is around $600-$1400 depending on condition and where I get it. I am also contemplating an FD trans swap but it may be more work than I want to do right now.

Is the 2009 RX-8 transmission beefier than the 04-08 version?

I have heard, but it's impossible to find used and over $3k new! It would also require custom mounts but I believe the 04-08 driveshaft would work and the shifter is in the same location.

I think I can do an FD swap on the cheap since I found one for STUPID cheap but I honestly just don't know how much work it is...It would royally suck to buy the FD trans and get all the parts only to find I need another $1k in custom fab to make it work...ugh

I have a line on an RX-8 trans for $500 + freight....

That's what happens when you miss a shift. That kinda torque is not going to blow the gears out of your trans Dave.
Though a bad syncro and a bad shift certainly will.
I think it was the detent ***** that fell out of your trans. You forgot to mention that Dave.
If your going to mash the gear shift,, why don't you get a Fluid Syncro/Saver?
Or perhaps the upcoming BHR Fister Shifter Shift Assister.

Looks like it might be time for an Automatic Dave. They hold up just fine.

We just like messing with Dave and he seems to be a good sport about it.

I think our next product will actually be called "The Ham-Fister Shifter Assister".
