I guess I am soon going to be one of the cool kids. I got a surprise influx of cash and I'm trying to get the turbo in asap. I started an install thread with plenty of pictures including my AEM CAI which I put in today. The link is in my sig but, here it is anyway: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/blackenedwings-franken-turbo-install-thread-163753/

Jeff, I have a good friend who can do the minimal fab work to extend the WG actuator (and modify the mounting bracket) as he has a machine shop, but I was failing miserably trying to explain to him exactly what I needed. Do you mind if I email or PM you about it?

Yeah - I sold quite a few in January and February. Some to this country, a few to Greece, Cyprus and a couple to the Pacific rim.
Yours might have been #6 actually, now that I think about it. I don't remember when you ordered it exactly.
I'm just now catching up to the orders placed in March and April!

I'd really like to see the Mediterranean and Asian MM turbo people chime in since their experiences will probably be of a somewhat different flavor than the North American installs.

Does that difference in experience have to deal with the Steering Column position???

In some cases. That's not much of an issue for my kit (like it is for the top-mount kits).
But I was referring more to the difference in "attitude" of the Greek and Cypriot owners, who tend to be, for lack of a better term, very over-the-top in their approach to tuning.
They all went off the deep end as far as pressures, auxiliary equipment, engine management, etc.

Ahh. Deliver in January. Then you are, in fact, kit number 3!
I need a secretary.
Better go re-edit that list.
You can leave in the "punk" bit.

Who's doing thier engine management, just curious if it was one tuner or a swarray of tuners, with that area of the world being relatively small it could be just one tuners theories throwing everything thru the loop

Well, several of them are now on my AccessPORT calibrations, but the Greeks started with Haltech.

Yeah, Pettit. BTW, the overdrive ratio i'm going to try will spin the blower 1400k over the recommended redline(13k) at 9k, but 200 rpm below that at 8k, so hopefully it will be hitting the sweet spot of the blower up till then. Going from a 1.46 ratio to a 1.54(increased blower speed by 700rpm) produced an additional 4lbs of boost up to @4k rpm, then an additional 3lbs after that. I did all of this testing, btw, without water/meth, and created my own maps while doing this(really bad idea).

If you're interested, I did some really stupid things with the timing and fuel that I'll send to you via pm since i'm sure to get flamed if I post in an open forum.

My new overdrive ratio will be 1.6! I'm gonna need some help creating a map for that if the EFI dude software cannot do what is neccessary to run that much boost safely. I do happen to have the AP, and a certain someone who posts here from time to time never did get around to making any maps for me(ahem...cough...MM....cough). If anyone is willing to help me make a map for it, let me know.

So you are just going to overspin the blower - or is the drive ratio going to be variable?

Any idea what your temps are now to anticipate how it is going to be with the smaller pulley?

PS - NA RX8's are punk b*tches....

So here is my completed MAF - CAI.

I am getting 6-7 g/sec at idle now (vs 7-8 with the greddy) and a smoother idle; BUT I am still getting fluctuations (MAF g/sec changes by 1 every few seconds; rpm goes from 840-790 ish)- and my fuel trims haven't changed any after the swap... I don't have a screen but didn't use one with the TD06 and had no problems. No vacuum leak that I can find. I may just be too ****.

Any ideas?

Since you have no other pipe to share that hole with it is posiible to scrap that reducer and 3.5" it all the way out. You may also have remove stock box as well.

I'm going to post up shots tomorrow of my completed maf housing.

The only time the blower will be overspun is above 8k rpm, even with the 1.6 ratio.

The only time intake temps get bad is while sitting at idle for a few minutes. Without meth they hold steady @12 degrees over ambient. The guys using meth all report ambient or cooler.

During extended hammering the highest oil temp I have seen is @200-210, and I do mean hammering.

Don't know about coolant. I'll have to check on that and get back to you.

Just noticed you have the synchronic, you using your anti-stall valve?
If not, do you need it?

I am definately interested in fabbing up a CAI for the Pettit kit. However, BHR is making one for Phil's car, so I'll wait on that.

CAI does help alot - I went from 160-170F at idle to 10 above ambient max.

I don't have the anti-stall valve man. I never got one - and I recirc.

Damn 160-170 @ idle

Had the weirdest thing happen to me today. Really have been avoiding boosted ranges until I get my proper cals from Jeff but on this particular day, today, I couldn't resist and hit boost to test out boost controller.

Of course I spiked, got off of it and soon as I came to a standstill, there was alot of smoke coming from hood. Got home and immediately checked under hood and noticed vaccum cap had blown off UIM and a **** ton of oil all over everything. It looked to be coming from the crankcase as my filter, I had on it was drenched.

Any explanation anybody?
Could overfilling be the culprit?

Oh and the charge piping and turbo check clean!
