Boost spike is a big issue with the Gredy TD06.

Do you have a boost controller?

I've seen that too....boost spike....scary stuff when not tuned properly.

In an hour or so, I'm going to try to remove my leaking TD06 to get ready to send out for upgrade. I'm not looking forward to it....lol. At least it's above 50 degrees out today. Tried to recruit one of my buddies to give me a hand, but he was conveniently "busy" today. *sigh*

You got the right tools? You can do it in two hours or less.

Get some ball joint t handle allen wrenches; and some floppy head ratcheting sockets; and a universal joint.

Jack Car - remove both motor monts (with a jack to support motor). Drop motor down, remove oil sending line a oil pressure sender; move engine to the left; remove drain line on turbo. Lower engine as low and left as possible and then remove turbo (the oil sending line will still be attached and slide right over the tranny bell housing).

Done.

got it...what a pain.
I couldn't get the driver side motor mount off Kane....One the nuts was on the verge of being stripped, so I gave up. I was able to leave the manifold on and get the turbo out. I took off the studs that connect the turbo to the manifold to make more room. I also took off the wastegate. Then I dropped the motor on the passenger side as far as it could go. It was just enough room and it dropped right out.

It wouldn't have been so bad if my stupid garage wasn't flooded. All the snow melted and seeped in somehow.

Now off to Tim's Turbo's for the rebuild and upgrade.

Damn that sucks.

You can imiagine how an extra 3-5 inches of room would have helped huh? Sorry about your mount issues.

But it is done.

That's a good tip - drop the motor enough to leave the manifold on. Just remember to always take off the wastegate actuator first, or the whole motor's weight will crush it.

Yeah it would have been a piece of cake if I could get that driver side mount off...

I am going to get all new studs, nuts, and gaskets while it is out. I don't want to have to take this thing out for a long time....lol.

I wonder if Tim can get that stuff....Nobody here seems to have much luck sourcing the gaskets and studs. GReddy is too hard to get a hold of.

Yeah, there was no way it would've come out with the wastegate actuator installed

Good idea - also have that mount squared away while you wait. Getting it on is gonna be harder than off.

But the motor mount removal makes life pretty damn easy.

Definitely going to do that....There is no way I'm going to try to get it in the way it is...it's damn near impossible.

I will mess with it once my garage is dry. Not fun laying on a wet garage floor.

lol

I wish I had some MAF readings......I never got fully tuned from MM's calibration service....
I am waiting on my first performance tune. I wonder how much the upgraded turbo will mess up the calibrations?

Kane - you mentioned in a different thread, that the whole job was easier if you took off the drivers side mount too - is it a huge advantage?

gives an extra 3-5 inches as Kane said above...I would say that is HUGE as you know the space is very limited.
