We are on mandatory over time at work so my time to screw with any of my cars is becoming more and more scarce unfortunately. I am hoping to get down to PTP on the 16th this month to at least get the car tuned at wastegate pressure. I had talked to Jon at PTP and he said that once I get the b/c in, he can retune it for the higher pressure, and that it wasnt that hard. Im thinking my boost is fine, like Bryan said above. I still cant find anything leaking and started the car on ramps and ran my hands over all the connections of the kit, including the turbo, and I felt no air leaking. I will try Bryans suggestion of disconnecting the source and see how the wastegate reacts. My afrs are below 11.02 at wot (sensor pegged) so it will be plenty safe to handle 1 or 2 psi. Ill keep ya updated with anything I find.

Spent all day on the dyno yesterday trying to get the car dialed in. After pull 14, the turbo started making a weird noise at an idle and at low rpm. It seems to go away once it starts spooling. Any idea what it could be? Its hard to explain, kind of a mix between a squeak and a high pitched moan. Ill try and see if my video camera can pick it up. Turbo has less then 300 miles on it with about 17 wot pulls on it. 15 were yesterday. I dont wanna take this apart for the 4th time!

you sure it isnt the turbo spooling up? I remember I used to think something was wrong with my turbo because it sounded so much louder than the stock greddy turbo spooling up..

were you able to get any decent numbers with BNR turbo?

mine makes a high pitched noise at idle - always has . 22000 km later and it is still good .

No, the engine runs great and the boost gauge shows 19-20kpa vacuum. Thought he blew the seals a couple times though when he was adjusting timing, she was screaming!

Its not the turbo spooling cause it mostly makes the noise at idle, and as soon as you start giving it gas. Ill try to see if it will be noticable on video, and post it up so yall can hear it. As the car sits now, it did 212whp, 185wtq at 3.5psi. Car boosted 5psi on the way home.

So far it runs like there is no problem, I mean it still spools and pulls pretty strong. I wanna try your "actuator arm" mod but if you cut the threaded part of the arm, how do you get the nut back on?

instructions here https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/getting-most-out-your-greddy-turbo-without-breaking-bank-172542/

you don't screw the nut back on just the rod end ...

sounds like a similar scenerio to mine when i dyno'd very low..on my boost gauge it would read 5psi but on the dyno it read 2.5 psi (i believe this is because of where the pressure sensor source they used may be different from my boost gauge) i did 214 whp at 2.5 psi...im taking mine back to the dyno tomorrow its currently hitting 5 psi and slow creeps up to 7 psi to redline..i made no changes since then other just adding water/meth injection..my g/s is around 349..keep you guys posted

Ive read your instructions before but how does the clevis screw back on then? If you cut a threaded area, doesnt it distort the threads? Sorry if thats dumb but if its possible to ruin the arm, its not worth it to me.

Thats funny how we have almost the same numbers. I noticed with mine, it was losing boost in higher rpms, it hit 4psi at like 4000rpm, then just started to go down as the rpms rose. Thought this was supposed to be better than the stock Greddy!

i used a disc grinder to just grind 3mm off its length (while holding it with vise grips) as getting any kind of hacksaw in there is impossible . Just be careful and chamfer the end a little and the clevis will screw straight back on . Not hard at all .

If you really are worried just remove the actuator and do it in a vice but I know that thing is a real bitch to get off - up to you .

Everyone who has had this problem that I've helped has fixed it with a BC only....

3 - 3071R's and 1 BNR; all pushing 8-10 lbs to redline all on factory wastegate's with a proper boost controller setup.

I still cant figure out why they have been able to hold boost on just the factory wastegate? I was able to hold 8 psi all the way to redline. Now when you tuned my BC I was able to hold boost pretty damn well..
