Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott!Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott! Scott!

This guy is awesome. All this and he still took the time to answer all of my lowly questions about using the interceptor on a bone stock car.

nah... i have a lot of suspension work done + greddy turbo installed. i've been fixing cars up ever since i started working after college, but this is my first turbo-tuned car not to mention my first encounter w/ a rotary engine, so i'm still pretty clueless to participate in alot of interesting discussions.

i bought the interceptor-x after talking to scott for just 5minutes. no doubt i'll be buying his turbo upgrade in the near future when i have more funds available.

This looks like it could be a good thing for people like me who would like to install solid EMS (Int-X) now and add a turbo later but don't want to buy a kit that comes with EMS because it would be a waste. All depends on how much Mazsport wants for their kit though.
Now if Greddy would sell their kit sans E-manage I might bite at that too.

Scott, have you had any experience with these turbo RX-8s at the track? I really worry about the RX-8's cooling capacity once a FMIC is thrown into the equation.

I as well as several other owners have been racing the RX-8 with greddy turbo kit/interceptor-x.
I have only been autocrossing mine, which is quick bursts of 30seconds to 1min 30seconds at a time. Alot different from a full Track Event. There are people here who do full out track days with this setup... so you may want to post this in the competitve racing forum to get a better response.

The interceptor and heat issue are pretty much seperate, but i can tell you the interceptor allows you to adjust your fueling in a way that helps bring peace of mind when you are racing.
I thought i was having a little bit of a heat issue, but it turns out it was nothing to be worried about. I think a vented hood and better radiator coolant will help solve that problem.

As someone previously also asked, are the HP results @ the wheels or flywheel?

I'm sure they are to the wheels...Hymee is the only one crazy enough to hook up an Engine Dyno ( OH and Racing Beat as well...but they don't share )

they're at the wheels, it says dynojet at the top. and im pretty sure dynojet software doesn't have an option to display numbers read at the wheels as BHP

hmmm -- I was all dead set on waiting for and saving for Hymee's supercharger later this year but this seems to be an interesting development. My reason for not wanting the greddy turbo to start was 1) all the minor issues and 2) the size (or lack thereof) of the turbo for higher RPMs.

I'm a semi-noob with the FI setup options out there, but from what im seeing this looks pretty interesting. My car is bone stock in the engine dept and if there was a way to get this upgraded turbo kit installed and tuned for ~6000ish dollars I might be game for it later this year.

From what im reading it looks like scott has just taken the greddy, slapped a turbo thats able to pump the required CFM, and upgraded the intercooler, and some hoses?

This is mostly just a Greddy intercooler with some of the same piping. Everything else (the most important stuff) being different. This is more than a Greddy upgrade. It is a whole new kit.

A whole new kit with the same turbine?

The full kit will also have a different intercooler and piping...If you read the earlier part of the thread Scott said that the Greddy users could upgrade and leave the intercooler and piping as one option.....

Weird - my car has 200whp w/ just intake and exhaust
You know that's weird. I think I may hit up a dyno myself and see what my car is putting down. I just went to the dealer (bad o2 sensor) and the guy told me that he has had some 8s with similar mods come in, but mine was quite powerful for an NA 8. They actually started asking me if there was anything else in it besides just the intake and exhaust. I think I'm going to go to the dealer again and test drive a stock 8 to see what it feels like compared to mine (haven't been in a stocker in a LONG time).

This kit looks really tempting to us NA/SC folks. I would LOVE 300 at my wheels. That's really all I need baby ...

maybe 15-20 more whp

hehe. That's why you want to live in a cool place like FL where we don't give a rats *** about emissions.

IIRC, somewhere in the 3000 posts of the Axial Flow SC thread, it was infered that Richard rented time on Racing Beat's dyno. I don't recall if Richard ever confirmed that.

Richard does has a rig for testing the supercharger but it's not mounted on the engine. It was driven by a big-*** electric motor and used to test flows and pressures for different blade configurations.
