I am currently driving a 2002 Spirit R Type A RX7 last of the Twin turbo ones .

Running hi-flow revolution turbos putting out a conservative 310 HP -- 231 RWKW @15 PSI more than happy with my set up .

So the long and the short of it is that the car ran great throughout Friday and Saturday practice, until it jumped the accessory belt and the engine got real hot. So we elected not to compete on Sunday and risk further damage, and we had already locked up second the season championship.
For comparison, when we were here in May with the supercharged setup, we recorded a best time of 1:58.7. In practice this weekend, we were down in the 1:54 range on old tires.
Since Time Attack season is over, we probably won't rush to fix the car right away and will likely spend some time in the coming weeks on our turbo systems for street RX-8s.
To answer some previous questions - the cat on the car came from Jegs, and is essentially a straight-through which doesn't rob us of much power, and the oil temps were kept around 220 on track.
The ProCharger was shelved in favor of the turbo for improved reliability and more potential horsepower.

Oopsie ..... The more I consider it the more I like this idea. While the early PP housings add overlap relative to a Renesis, the Renesis side ports allow a higher exhaust flow without the excessive overlap a heavily ported PP housing would produce ....

Right, l pretty much assumed that's what happened. I was curious as to what damage was actually caused when "the engine got real hot" and what it is exactly that they have to "fix"...so it doesn't happen to me or any of us for that matter.

Great work Mazdatrix! Nice numbers. I had this very idea many years ago ( https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...55&postcount=4 ) and I am glad to see that my idea works and see it implemented years later. I will be watching this build.
