Doesn't matter how much money you have, if they don't know what they're doing, the results won't be good. The only reliable choice we have is to pay a tuner to come here.

After long day of installation and a long night of tuning by our tuner Nelson Siviero, our Street RWD RX-8 turned out 290 HP at 7400 rpm at 14psi.

More impressive, however, were the midrange numbers - above 249 HP from 5600 to 8800, and 229 ft lbs of torque at 5600. It will be a very drivable package.

After this weekend’s Redine Time Attack at Infineon Raceway, we will get back on the dyno and find some more power with a different throttle body, different muffler setup, and a different Turbonetics turbo. At this point, it is tuned safely and ready to hit the track.

Depends entirely on the setup and options you choose. Best thing to do is give us a call.

I imagine he did mean 290.
Now, whether he meant something less than 14 PSI might be in question...

yeah I did catch that as well . Hard to believe that is all he got with 14psi of boost . Something very screwy going on .

HA!
Does sound like it could use some troubleshooting?
Midrange power/TQ sounds ok--buttttttt?????
That power level and that cars weight will not win a Time attack, at least the ones I know off?
Dont give up guys-- appreciate yall's honesty in reporting the numbers.

To give some feedback on the current horsepower level and where things are at:

As this was the first time we have run this engine setup, and it was completed very late in the week for this past weekend's Redline Time Attack at Infineon Raceway, we opted to make things very safe for this first time out. With the high-compression Renesis rotors, we started at only 14psi and 11 degrees of timing and have plenty of room for improvement. We also know there are some limitations in the system, but, as our tuner put it during the dyno session, "its safe and will run forever like this. Go drive it."

Another thing to note is that we dyno'd the car with an exhaust system that we know is a limiting factor. This partially done so that we could establish a baseline, and also because we had a sound restriction at Infineon (Kyle's FC, with its open exhaust on a turbocharged 13B, was black-flagged for sound) and we opted to err on the quiet side. By the way, the car was dyno'd on a Dynojet.

The car ran trouble-free all weekend at the Redline event at Infineon, and Dave reported that it was stronger throughout the powerband than the previous supercharged setup. Unfortunately for us, it rained non-stop at Infineon and our Nitto NT-05 tires, while great in the dry, are not ideally suited for rain action. We did have one dry practice session to stretch the car's legs and it was really quick, so we'll see what we can do with a bit more power at the season finale at Fontana in three weeks.

We'll keep everyone posted as we continue to develop the car between now and Fontana.

What turbo are you using?

Maybe there is a big difference in power between high and low compression rotors? You get more volume with rx7 rotors, esp t2 ones. 11 degrees advance isn't causing a HUGE power loss.

11° is actually quite a bit of timing, especially at that much airflow.

very safe tune and a smart move.
Stay tuned folks--no pun intended.
It would be great to have that 290 available at 6K
What are yall hooked to? S1 box and standard gearing?

Just making some assumptions here for Team .

14psi at 5600 on a typical renesis is over 300whp .
You made 249 so must have lost over 50hp through air bypassing the combustion chamber
