A pressure measurement is just a reference point. It doesn't mean much by itself.

When comparing like with like it definately means something .
This being apples and oranges means a whole lot less - but does raise some very interesting questions about what is going on .

For instance : does this setup have more overlap thap previous PP rotaries ?

True, but it is not "by itself" in this context.
We know the turbo, we have some basic info about the engine, we know the power output and we know the manifold pressure.
We can deduce a bit about total throughput, though we don't have the actual flow numbers or the resultant lambda.

We don't know enough to deduce the overall efficiency short of guessing, which was my only intended point ...

please don't make me school you WRT the relativity of dyno comparisons

Well, no - we actually do. That was my point.

They gave us the turbo (Turbonetics T4), the relative manifold pressure (14 PSI) and the specific power output (290 HP).
You can even nail down which of the turbo trims are possible from that information and the approximate airflow.

From what they have told us I would imagine the airflow will be significantly higher than a Renesis producing the same power . Maybe around 400g/s ...ish .

Back on the dyno last night with some changes in the setup. We switched from a Racing Beat race/sport exhaust to a racing beat straight through muffler (FYI we have to run a cat per the Redline Time Attack rules) and installed an aluminum intake with a larger throttle body.

New peak numbers are at 361 HP with 257 ft.lbs, at 14 pounds of boost and 14 degrees of timing. We might have gone for more but are now at the limit of our fuel pump and injectors, so we will have to upgrade those before going for bigger numbers.

The car will be on track this weekend at the Redline Time Attack finale at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

that's a huge improvement over the last dyno although torque seems a little low still - what was done ?

The bigger turbo is gonna swap some torque for hp.

the overlap may be responsible for some of that as well perhaps ?

Dunno. In positive pressure, the overlap shouldn't be much consequence, especially with that much flow available.

Uh, they dumped it and when with a turbo.

I think the reasoning in that is pretty obvious at this point.

Congrats on the new numbers. If you take some video at this weekend's event, please post!!!

Cool

HJS GT-1407 would be an optimal choice
