the high pithed noise is normal - i think it is the turbo although not sure on that .

only thing i can think of with it going lean is that your long term fuel trims have changed . Did you disconnect the battery just before tuning ?

no battery was not disconnected before tuning at all. odd that it was running with good AFRs in boost and then all of a sudden its going lean in boost. would a vacuum leak somewhere cause a leaning out of AFRs?

i dont think you have a vacuum leak being that the car idles perfect and your not experiencing any drivability issues with the car

in the mean time you should check your fuel trims - long and short term

Did you change the map? Have you tried reloading the map? Just for fun. Then do some logs like described in Jeff's AP MAP request list of drive cycles. Didn't Flashwing post that somewhere?

Anyway reload and see if it does anything

I'm seeing Jeff tonight and I'll ask him about it.

im about to load up some data logs i got today with the lean afrs in boost in 2nd and 3rd gear. also about to send jeff a email with the logs included.

thanks for letting him know =) i appreciate it alot!

the dense atmosphere during the tuning should have no influence in the charge entering the intake, and having different effects under dryer conditions, right?

What AFR's are you seeing and at what boost pressure/calc load?

Sometimes mine will hit a random lean spot here and there. 12's are nothing to sweat unless you're in high boost with high IAT's.

i heard pinging or detonation (whatever that marbles in a can sound is) in higher rpms...i backed off right away.

its definately too lean in boost at any given rpm and in every gear. when i first came off the dyno and for a few days after it was good in the mid 11's, but now its in the 12s and only in the 12s.

i have datalogs of the lean 2nd and 3rd gears. but i need somewhere to upload the files.

Try disconnecting your battery or reflashing your current map to reset your fuel trims. I do that it runs great every time.

I've never gotten "marbles in a can" in the 12 afrs, even at 8-9psi with the 3071. I've only heard it when I spiked 10psi and 14.2 AFR

If you disconnect the battery you will reset the fuel trims which may just fix the problem temporarily . You should see what they are before you do that though .

reflashed the ecu with the same map i had on before, and now the AFRs are back to normal (mid to high 11's, low 12's). car runs great in boost just like before.

that is very weird...did the factory pcm make some changes on its own? i might start reflashing on a regular basis x_X

easye1, if you could contact jeff can you tell him to not mind the lean condition i was having that i described in my email to him and just concentrate on the 5th and 6th gear problem i am having? thanks.

in boost the LTFT is -.16 when the car is running good (as in good AFRs, like how it is now and how it was right after driving it off the dyno)

but the log that i have of when i was running lean in boost and heard pinging, the LTFT was -2.5 the whole time i was in boost.

LTFT sits a 0 or -1 right now that i reflashed the car.

We were discussing it last night. About the only conclusion we came up with is the Greddy intake MAF tube. It is a bit different in size than stock. This could make your AFR's go off after a bit. Trying to constantly compensate for the pipe diameter difference.

so yes the problem is that your computer is altering the fuel trims - sometimes it takes the ecu quite some time to settle on the last few % points and i suspect you had not done enough drive cycles before the dyno to get it settled . Should be an easy fix for mm - in the meantime you will probably have to keep resetting the ecu .

you know I always wondered about the effectiveness of dyno tuning on this car, as you can't do any complete drive cycles while on the dyno.....and MM's instructions clearly say to have 2 complete drive cycles...that is warm car up to operating temps....drive around...let it cool down completely...repeat. Then start datalogging so the proper calibrations can be made. This is supposed to be done every time a new calibration is flashed.

am I missing something here?

you shouldnt have to do that for updated flashes. if i still understand the process correctly, thats only meaningful in the first steps to determine MAF scaling or something of that nature
