BTW - someone who knows what they are doing will need to machine your housing and clip the turbine for you

I was going to do it by hand with sheet metal scissors and sandpaper!

(joke)

Also upon inspection of my turbo it appears the turbine wheel on my replacement CHRA is a tad smaller than what I currently have.

I measured the t618z turbine at 58 / 70. Whats listed on the replacement is 55.3/65. The compressor appears to be the correct size but the turbine is off.

The big question is will the replacement CHRA still fit, I don't mind reusing my turbine wheel and I am getting a new compressor wheel and housing.

hmmmmmmm.

Time flies when you're having fun!

Pretty soon I'll be knocking up some girl I don't love and spending the rest of my days driving a minivan.

Trying to get all the fun out of the way so I can live in misery behind the wheel of a 2015 odyssey, knowing that I at least had fun in my youth.

The stock CHRA works ok without water cooling - just get the bigger wheel and clip the stock turbine .

BNR is $1150 - are you really going to save a lot by tring to do some of it yourself ?

I'll save around $300! Also being able to say that I not only rebuilt my engine but rebuilt and designed my turbo, will give me Super Powers!

Now I know why the turbine was incorrect the chra I linked earlier. The stock Greddy appears to be a td06 20g turbine with an 18g compressor wheel in a TD05 compressor housing.

Even the compressor inlet is 52mm (small taper) then it shrinks to 50mm....

I am going to confirm this on Saturday when I get correct measurements using a digital caliper.

What I'm shooting for is a TD06 compressor housing with a TD06 CHRA. The TD06 compressor housing should fit fine into the greddy turbine housing. I believe the t67 from greddy is essentially this setup except with a 25g wheel. .

Yes sir I am calling two companies that bastardize the Td05's for the Eclipse turbo and subbie guys tomorrow.

Using the larger housing I whould be able to flow more than enough air... Possibly even too much.

20g does not flow anywhere near enough . See the chart below .I have tried to approximate the flow from my 57 trim turbo when hooked up to the stock Greddy pipework This is at 7000rpm + with aux. ports open. Pressures are from the turbo (not the UIM) . From this you can see why even the 3071 (almost identical to my 57 trim) needs to operate at a reasonably high boost to avoid going into choke. You need something that closely matches the 3071 at the least . Those i listed earlier will do that.

Gotcha... The best I think I can pull off is a td07 housing with a 25g wheel into the stock Greddy turbo...

Essentially that's a Greddy T67, that would for sure be the biggest I can go while keeping the stock down pipe and manifold.

We shall see what the experts have to say, I know a few FD's and FC's out there run the t 67.

Honestly though I think I am going to stick with the 20g setup. Going the 25g route will require a brace to be fashioned to support the turbo, larger injectors and a few other fun gadgets.

Since this project has a deadline of mid December I cant really take the time to save up for that.

Again all this is dependent on the measurements I get this weekend.

Have not seen a flow map for a 25g but i think it flows more than the 3071 . Which means you will need a bigger turbine side to support that much flow .
The stock greddy turbine will apparently flow sufficient to produce 350whp ish . So not a lot of point going to a compressor that can go higher than that.
I thought you wanted best bang for buck ? To do that you can still use most of the stock greddy turbo - you only need a bigger compressor wheel .

I must have been smoking crack yesterday, I meant a 60-1 wheel in a Td06 housing.

That should be the biggest you can fit.

that should flow enough to get you in the high 300's.

I think the stock Greddy turbine will flow enough to produce much more than that, if I am not mistaken the Greddy T67 uses the same turbine and housing.

60-1 is the BNR upgrade which will only get you decent WHP if you are prepared to further modify the kit and BTW only one person has done that so far and we are still awaiting the results of that . The turbine is still the limiting factor though and several in the know have said it cant do more than 350 and based on what I have tried - I believe them .
Everyone else with the 60-1 has struggled to even make 280whp .

This is why I recommended the wheel sizes I did .

One guy here got a gt35 wheel into his greddy and we are in the process of tuning that right now . Will be interesting ....
