if it a self lube system it has to have a dipstick?
what cools a supercharger mostly is keeping cool air coming into it--so make sure the filter is in a spot so it can draw as cool of air as possible. Keep it inside the engine bay but very close to a cool air source.
Oh wait--- the hymlee uses an air to air intercooler-----nevermind!

we pettit guys use a synthetic 50 wgt oil. doesnt need cooling. but the gear case does need venting. if you track dont fill it to the full mark, fill it only a tad below that mark.
welcome to the club!
OD
In the begining this SC was designed to use engine oil. Later in the production run some problems popped up and Hymee provided plugs to switch the SC to a sealed set up. I do not belive it has provisions for a dip stick, gear case breather or oil fil level.

I already have six aftermarket sensors going in if I can help it I would like to not worry about a seventh for SC oil temps. I am thinking of useing a small water to oil heat exchanger and pump for the SC.

Should I put my added aftermarket AIT sensor post SC or pre SC?

Shipped it yesterday 9K, on a REG.

Got a call from the UPS store I sent it to, they shipped it this morning so it should be en-route soon

Hoping for a tracking number soon, I gave them my e-mail to send it to, and made sure to ask him for the tracking number, don't have anything yet though.
Sweet just in time for my Vacation!

post sc is where we monitor our intake charge temps. Thats the one to keep an eye on. You set up is different than ours, but it seems to me that is where it would be the most critical?

I have seen sc without a dipstick on the Mini cooper etc. I really do not like that.
Lubrication to the gear nose is critical and you need the ability to check it and change it out.
If you end up tracking it you want to reduce the level a little to keep the windage down etc and you want to change it after the event. I guess it can work, but its not the best
It would be easy for a machine shop to add one for you --I think? I would strongly consider doing that?
You have a lot of money and time invested--now it not the time to cut corners?

Again do not worry about the oil temp in the s.c.

PM responded too.

Thanks for the Info OD. Sprintex Rocks! They responded back right away to my questions. They say the best gear oil to use is Redline 75W90NS in the gear case.

Hello guys,

anyone who can send me a few screenshots from his protuner map?
I want to compare my map with an other because i have some idle and stalling issues.
That would be very helpful!

Who have a working hymee kit installed?

After 7 months full of issues i think i got it now, only the stalling issues are very bad..
If the car is warmed up the idle is stable but if i rev it up or in normal traffic the engine stall everytime.

cheers

Nice to see someone got it installed! As far as i know, There is not another person with it installed just yet.

My final parts should be in anyday now but I first have some other things that need to be addressed before my install.

Mark said he would honur my tuning tolken, If I can find the darn thing……… If it is even a thing.

Good luck and let us know how you solved the issue.

maybe it is the maf because at the moment i have an "curious" intake system installed..
the rb intake doesn´t fit anymore and i still have to organize a stock intake or a cai from aem or something..
i think the maf is too close to the throttle body at the moment.

how can i check if the bypass valve work properly?

if the car is warmed up the idle is between 900 - 1100 rpm. its not always the same..

thanks..

Pics of the intake?
Check ALL vacuum hoses--period and secure them with ties/metal ties.
Be very careful of the maf tube you close--it could throw your tune completely off.

i will make some pics of the intake setup..

i installed the stock intake but with a modified tube, because the maf tube was too long to fit at the S/C.

i still think that the issue is the map itself but it is very difficult in my country to find someone who can tune the rx8 with protuner.
that´s the reason i asked for some screenshots from another hymee owner to compare the two base maps.
i think that i´m the only one who have that stalling issue.

cheers

I am looking forward to see how Danny goes with his final tune. He has put over 1000km on his kit with a basic tune and the power seemed good sitting in the passenger seat.

Danny is very methodical and I trust him to have everything sorted and track tested. If he finds issues that need fixing he has the capability to find solutions.

I do around 6 to 8 track days per year so I need to sure that all the components can withstand the pressure of a race track before I get my kit installed.

I am will start investigating what other ancillary components that will need upgrading as part of this install. Some of the immediate things will be 09 fuel pump, larger injectors.

I have been tracking my car for over 5 years now I have slowly upgraded a lot of the handling components. This has seen considerable decreases in my lap times.

I think we are all looking forward to it. In the next six months or so we should be seeing more of these kits going on.

I am not going to "upgrade" my injectors just yet. I will have them fully matched and blueprinted before the install however, I dont think I will be maxing them out with the stock Hymee pully. We keep a extra rotating set of injectors between a few of us locally

Are you doing any thing extra for Cooling on both the oil and coolant side SKC? I'm still very up in the air on what I want to do on my coolant system and exhaust.

I will see how Danny fares on the track with his cooling components. I will discuss the options and work on solutions based on what we uncover. I would be good to see if there is a way to angle the intercooler a bit to get more air flow to the radiator.

I have a replica Mazda speed front bar which should give a larger opening. Depending on how much room the intercooler takes up, I may be able to redirect some of the air from the large side openings on the bar towards the radiator. The oil cooler only uses a small portion of the opening. I also use a small odyssey battery which supposedly can allow more air flow in the engine bay.

Look forward to the journey. This is my first attempt at serious mod to any car I have owned.

skc

The only cooling mod for me so far has been a second oil cooler (we only get one in Aus).

Here is a video from my idling issues..
I know the vid is long and boring but maybe someone have an idea?

In the first scene you see the cold start and how the rpm fluctuate till i step on the clutch pedal.
I think that must be the neutral switch at the tranny but the fluctuating is basically gone after warm up.
Stalling is getting worse if i drive in normal traffic but the video should give an example how it is.

Danny was having similar issues as the initial setting was based on a very rich tune. However, once the car is tuned properly I understand all the issues will be sorted.

Brett should get you sorted. Makes me think of a MAF problem as in wrong length runner, need to add/remove screen, but for God's sake ask somebody who knows more than I do.

I also thought about the MAF.
It is very tight between the airbox and the throttle body.

Somebody know how much minimum space required between the MAF and the throttle body?

On my car with the Pettit system, the distance from the center of the MAF housing to the throttle plate spindle on top of the throttle body is 4.5 inches. On this setup, I'm not running any screen.

I believe you need to be aware of the distance before AND after the maf. Dont hold me to it but I recall (or it could just be something I have made myself remember ) MM saying along the lines of the MAF should be in the middle of 12" of piping. I have always assumed it was 6" before and after.

I have a max space between the end of the air box and the trottle body of about 7-8inch.
The only way to change this is to install an CAI like the AEM one or something, but i like the current setup with the Racingbeat intake. And with the engine cover installed it looks pretty stock

With the help from Brettus i got the stalling issues fixed now! I idle with 1100rpm like the Pettit guys do. I think the base map from hymee is ****!

I hope i can dyno and map the car in a few months..

Cheers
Martin

I kinda figured you had a tuning issue. Glad to hear you got it fixed! Lets see some Pics!
