No not common knowledge at all - two examples of this happening in the last week . Who knows how many others out there are suffering from the same affliction .

I suspect lots ...

And yes , all turbos and SCs for that matter could have that hose fly off.

Well, don't forget - the car comes with a compression clamp on both ends of that short hose from the factory.
So, for most people (or at least those that haven't taken their motor apart for some reason) this won't be an issue.

Really ? Don't recall seeing a clamp on it . We are talking about the long hose BTW - not the short one under the lim .

Oh, I thought you meant the short one.
I don't remember if the long hose has a clamp from the factory or not.

I put clamps on everything, so I'm not a good source of info for that.

yep - good advice . Thing is that particular hose is buried such that you can't actually see it unless you know it's there . I think most shop installs would miss this small detail unless it was spelled out somewhere . I'm attempting to do that .

The long hose didn't have a clamp. I blew that hose off with the Greddy kit at Speedworld one evening. So like you said clamp everything.

haha unless you take my route and have your wastegate signal coming from the jet air hose... that would be a different story

any suggestions here? just run it as an external wastegate and keep the internal wired shut? remove that external and block it off?

So I posted this in my build thread but then realized I'd probably get a better answer here so:

I've noticed something over the past day or two and that is my boost used to peak on the gauge at 6.5psi doing 2nd gear WOT pulls. The other day I was out and did a pull and my gauge looked like it reached a peak of only just over 5psi. The only difference I can think of is that is what drastically warmer (about 10C or 50F warmer) these past few days than previous days. Would this cause my boost to be less? I plan on giving my whole turbo system a good once over this weekend to see if there is anything notable I can find. So far the other thing I have noticed is that my oil catch can is about 1/8th full with only 2000miles on the turbo kit. I have been noticing alot more of the white gungy stuff on my oil dipstick as well and it looks like that is what is mainly in the catch can. I will pull it off and get some pics later to show what I am dealing with..... Anyone got any ideas for now though?
