Ah! Reading material! I have homework to do tomorrow. Flipping back and fourth between a turbo and air suspension.

new to turbo and renesis, second rotary

I'm sorry in advance if I'm posting in the wrong thread, this might be a tech question but I'm not Forum savvy. I just read this thread from begining to end because I just bought an 04 because I wanted a turbo car and it has the greddy kit mention here. It seems to be an un-upgraded kit. there is only a boost gauge. no afr, stock radiator, mid pipe, exhaust, and clutch( found that out the hard way). I had an 88 rx7 na didnt ever back fire that i noticed and very easy to drive. With the 8 if i drive like a granny it mostly behaves but If I drive it hard ONCE during my cruise it then backfires a lot, hunts for an idle at the stop light and doesnt like to leave a green light unless its revved over 2k. Sorry to be so long winded but its my first turbo and just wonder how much of it's antics are normal. Just looking for assurance, wish i could drop the car off with MM for a day, that would rock

It could be the kit, it could be something else. Without more detail, it's all guess work...

First though, what do you know about turbos?

I know the basic principle of exhaust spins the turbo which sucks air in and pushes it through an intercooler and then into the intake. also i have had the car for 3 weeks so i'll do my best to give any more info, I just need to know what info your looking for

Well this isn't the thread for your issues. Read all of the Greddy related threads and then search some more and you will be able to get an idea of where your problems are coming from. But first of all figure what you have because there are a 100 different things it could be.

Sorry to barge in all late but I was wondering what you meant by that just in case it was something I'd like to pursue.

Apologies - Mods, delete my post in other "fixes sticky", meant to post here.

Right, sorry guys, but trying to read so much and it's tough to make out what threads are the main ones and which ones most useful (and upto date), so instead of starting any thread like a noob, I'll post my query here.

Does the latest Greddy Turbo kit still have to be upgraded for reliability or have they now rectified some of the known problems you guys have had over the years.

In the UK we're pretty stuffed here and pettit hasn't got any more SC's and looking at the Greddy kit from reworx and DCperformance, they obviously must order them in from the states. Currently they're £3111 inc VAT PLUS fitting BUT after reading all the threads it seems to me, it's not simply a bolt on kit and will require updates etc. Things like e-manage I've read here have now been superseded etc and people replacing hoses etc because of poor quality, amending piggyback system blah blah. I'm not looking for massive performance at all, something around 300-320+hp@flywheel... but what I don't want is to order the kit to be fitted and then have to spend a fortune replacing 75% of the kit.

The reason I ask is, I've done all my modding years ago on a Pug 205 and it basically split me and the wife up as I was constantly tinkering and fixing things. This time, I simply want a bolt on kit that will be reliable and NOT require loads of updates to it etc... is the Greddy suitable, or is this force induction just not a "bolt on and run" type thing yet? the SC from Pettit seemed the kind of conversion I was looking for. I don't need massive power but would like to be putting out over 300bhp@flywheel.

Please forgive me on this one, as I don't want the usual read this and that (although if someone has a link to later specs./updates, fine, I'll read every page if necessary), however, there's quite a few old threads and I'm not sure where we're now currently at with the latest "off the shelf" kits.

If you had read most of the sticky threads you would have the answers you seek. But no, you expect us to explain it all to you right? And how do you know we are going to give you accurate information?

No, never wanted anyone to explain it all to me at all as I've spent a few hours reading this stuff myself since I've joined this forum. I simply wanted to know whether the Greddy kit has been updated recently (which you WON'T find the answer to as a lot seem to just be updating the kit as they go along) as a lot of information here is years old as well (check the dates on this thread for example). Didn't even create a new thread, just asked a simple question and still get lambasted for it... in a FAQ sticky rofl.
