this may be a dumb question or the safety aspect might outweigh the potential gain, but what about cutting away part of the 40 mile an hour bumper and fitting a bigger IC there? Any takers?

The IC placement on my car does not block any of my IC and I have the crash bar. The ms bumper helps a lot there though.

I bent my IC brackets so it hangs a bit lower.... I have very minimal blockage if any at all.... blocking off more of the rad isn't a huge issue for the climate I live in though

In order for mine to fit under the crash bar with out cutting it I need to angle the IC forward, also because the AEM intake is directly behind the bar. I have to either cut part of the "crash bar" or cut away the inside bottom part of my bumper and get some longer brackets in order to sit it upright.

lighting. you need to have light shinning through the grill if you want to see the IC when taking pics

How good would it work to let the A/C feed a liquid intercooler? Would the airflow might be to high compared to how much the A/C can cool?

Say what? Like feed the AC lines through a water/air intercooler?

For starters I'm pretty sure the AC turns off at wot past a certain rpm .

Other than that there are better ways to cool air than employing something that sucks a lot of energy from the engine to do comparatively little cooling .

1. So the AC cannot surge alot of heat? I dont have a clue how much energy a normal AC can get rid of....? That was mainly what I wondered: does the AC have capacity to influence the huge amount of air to any valuable point? If you want to cool say 300g/s by 20 C, would AC be capable of that?

2. I didnt think it absorbed that much energy, heard 3hp once(in a TV interview), but that might have been taken out of thin air for all I know. Is it?

3. Keeping the AC on at all times, should not be any problem. Electronics is my homefield.

most of your research is all pertained to a bar and plate design, never has a tube and fin been mentioned.

I remember finding a thread where someone held up a stock radiator, and a BHR radiator, the difference was the BHR Radiator had less dense fins, one could nearly see right through it, its still effective and flows more air. so I decided to do the same with intercooler cores

average Bar and Plate intercooler core


A Tube and Fine intercooler I ran for a bit (core was too Thin 2.25" (57.15mm))


Notice much of a difference?

I was under the impression that the tube and fin was a bar and plate so when I ordered my larger one, I looked for bar and plate. upon receiving the larger unit I discovered the difference.
with the smaller intercooler core 21x6.5x2.25 I didn't have any issues with heat but had a large pressure difference. I installed the bar and plate 21x10x3 the pressure difference dropped and the car was more responsive, but My motor temps jumped from 183 to 193 in 85 degree weather. when I get more funds my plan is to purchase a Tube and Fin of the same size and see what happens, I figure the temps will be normal again, looking at the pictures I just posted

the greddy intercooler is tube and fin.

bar and plate in general restricts more airflow passing through it but offers better heat rejection.

your tube and fin looks very thin compared to the bar and plate, not to mention the lighting and distance allows you to see through it easier.

don't forget, the bhr radiators fin density is not the only aspect that is different. it is also much thicker than stock.
