Hey papajoey79, have you heard the phrase "don't bite the hand that feeds you"? Here's a big hint: try not to insult someone when you're asking for their help. You get better responses that way.

Webster "sarcasm"
1 : a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2 a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual

Both of those definitions sound disrespectful to me.
Don't answer a question with a question, it doesn't make you look intelligent!
I thought you knew what I was asking but you must of failed out of mind reading class seeing that I didn't tell you the Air Pump!!
Even if you intended those two comments as sarcasm, they still sound like insults.

The Air Pump.........I thought you knew what I was asking but you must of failed out of mind reading class seeing that I didn't tell you the Air Pump!! I do that alot...I just want my car to run better or like everyone elses

that statement, being as sarcastic as it was, and not really taking the time to understand and comprehend the previous posts on the topic of something running after the car is shut down, is disrespectful.

The point is, I don't think you even know what you are asking.

Is the electric motor you hear under your hood or in your trunk (approximately)?

I am willing to wager that it is in your trunk.

Do you understand the question?

I fired up my 8 for the first time after installing the kit. I also have this noise. I am almost certain it is coming from the Air pump. To clarify what I am talking about, it is the thing that pumps air into the exhaust manifold to help burn any unburned hydrocarbons. It stays on for about 10 seconds after the car is turned off.

I have never seen that nor heard of it happening.
The air pump is designed to ONLY come on when the engine coolant temperature is below 77°F or so.

Well, try this experiment also:

Here is a picture of the air pump:

http://www.mazdamaniac.com/images/rx8/misc/air_pump.jpg

Get the car good and warmed up (to the point at which this occurs) and then, if the pump is running, disconnect the air pump connector and see if it stops.
If it does, immediately reconnect it and see if it starts right back up again.

Where did you get the idea that taking it out will help.
The PCM needs this signal (Engine Coolant Temperature), for one to caluculate the proper air/fuel ratio.

Your car will run like crap if it starts at all.

This is what I meant, the signal for the water temp

MazdaManiac wrote this and I wanted to try and see if it will help my car but I am not electronically inclined so I dont know where to start?
Quote:
4. What problems have people experienced? What are the probable causes and remedies?
Other than installation issues and mistakes, a common issue as been drivability in several RPM ranges. This seems to be caused by an electronic signal modifier that Greddy has installed in the E-Manage harness to trick the OEM PCM into open loop by changing the water temp sender signal. Most people with issues like bogging, lurching or sudden flat spots around 4500 RPM and elsewhere should remove this device.
