His power peak also came at about 7000 rpm or so when it should have come at 8500. Something is wrong with that. His motor is peaking where the 13B's should peak rather than where the Renesis should peak. The stock ecu also can't compensate and he claims that it hasn't been touched. He's done good work on rotaries in the past but he doesn't ever tell you anything useful and his dyno claims are misleading. It is also very rare that you ever see any pictures of his ports. There's nothing secretive about enlargening a port. You can stare at a picture all day but it doesn't mean that you can copy it.

guys, i respect and admire both of you, but please keep the arguing somewhere else. this is supposed to be informative, fun, and friendly for all who view it. if you have constructive critisism, comments, advice or whatever about my porting, dont hesitate to speak your mind-this is a learning experience for us all.

and i'd love to see what you've done with yours also.

here's my re-allocation of a blown turbo 2 tranny.

compression came out to 95 across the board!!!! a note for anyone who thinks that's low, remember that new engines build compression. it'll come up as soon as the grease gets burned off and the seals have full mobility. but the compression is just fine to fire right up and not be fussy. i've never doen a rebuild that didn't key-start. :D

What did I say that was worth getting mad at? Is it too much to ask that people back up their claims? Preferably on the SAME forum? I like Ito. I know what he can do. He probably hates me though. That's OK. I can take it. It doesn't matter.

Not yet, you're only 53% of mine.
BUT, you did it in record time. If you divide the posts by the time you win.

Alright check this out. After my mom isn't here to get the clutch, she calls UPS and asks how she can get it. They tell her the trucks get back between 8-9 o'clock and if she comes they can just get it off the truck and give it to her. So I make her go there because it's her fault already. Then they tell her that it wasn't on the truck and they will have to search for. Oh and it takes 30 minutes to search for an item and I was 7th or 8th in line. Not wanting to get it at 2 in the morning she left. I'm call SRMotorsports 2marow and complain about UPS. SR didn't do anything wrong but UPS won't care if I call them up complaining. If SR were to say something they might actually care.

So Dave this means I get it 2marow morning (I damn well better) I'm off of work at Nordies at 3 and I can take it over to Cal Speedway. I'll give you a call.

I think that's puurty btw...

Did I miss some juicy gossip? :p
Sorry to hear about the shipping problems Snoochie. Guitarjunkie, or anyone who would know, RG, Richard, if I decided to port my enging eventually, how would I know if the shop did a good job, besides the butt dyno?

I had posted a nice long reply but then deleted it about 2 minutes later because once again the whole point of it would be misinterpreted and more fighting would start.

Unfortunately if it runs, how do you really know if it was done good or not? The key is to find someone who you trust and believe would do a good job and go on faith. Since I don't like to name names, there are a couple of shops that I wouldn't trust to build my engine and they are fairly reputable and well known. It's not Racing Beat or Mazdatrix but that still leaves countless others.

that's the dual nature of this thread... if you have me do it, you'll know exactly what i'll do--and the dyno evidence will be posted as soon as we have it.

OR

there's enough pictures and explanations on here so you'd have a pretty good idea of how to do it yourself. and you can always hit me or rg up for advice.

I appreciate that, and when I do consider porting my engine, I'll be sure to talk to you guys. I'd love to have you do it, I know exactly what you've done. The only problem there is I live 3000+ miles from you. A big road trip would possibly be in order, but who knows?

Yeah, a dyno sheet, track timeslip and an in-depth driving review would make the ideal Christmas gift to your fellow RX-8 fanatics. Especially if it showed an additional 100 HP. :D (I believe in Santa Clause too. )

Well as things are right now the day is wednesday for my to have it back. I have nothing to do 2marow besides a work christmas party at 8pm. So I am taking these things up 2marow;

-Clutch Disk (I better get it 2marow morning
-4 Spark Plugs
-4 Qts of Oil
-2 Unmixed Gallons of Coolant

I list these things just so I don't forget something. Then hopefully it is all done on wednesday. After that I'll put a little reply about what I feel the difference is and what I think. Then after I have it broken in (shouldn't be too long, I drive a lot) I will have very detailed reports of mas mileage (city/highway) and off to the dyno. Hopefully we can have a dyno number around new years day. That is the goal but if thigns take a little longer due to details it will be worth it still. Don't worry anyone this is veddy veddy veddy close to completion.

P.S. My buddy wants me to go to Irwindale with him and do some track times soon so I hope to have some time slips also.

P.P.S. I also would like to follow R Paul's idea about hp with different octane gas. Since I used 91 for the pre-port dyno I will do this first. Then after a few tanks of 87 I'll do another. Just an interesting idea.

P.P.P.S. 100 HP I wish.......
