Garrett turbo

My friend wants to sell me his Garrett turbo. I'm thinking about buying it, but i was just wondering if it would work well with my car (2004 Rx-8).

which Garett turbo?
the "will it work" is dependant on a LOT of info which you haven't provided.

Garrett only makes one turbo didn't you know that Jedi? Fortunately its a generic one size fits all turbo for any type of car, boat, or even plane!

How much do you have in the budget for this and can you afford to replace the motor should it go boom?

It's a T304 Garrett turbo. My friend is selling it to me for $100 because he got it for like $500 for his S2000 from one of his frineds, but he sold that car and got a G35 and wants to sell it. If my engine blows i should have enough to get a new eninge or at least buy a junker until i get it fixed. Should i buy it or should i just get one that is made just for the Rx-8?

Do you want to fabricate/source all the items needed to install it properly on your car? Or do you want a bolt in made for your car.

dude FI FTMFW!

Jump on it quick! You can also swap in RX7 twin turbos from the FD RX7 model. Here is the thread on that one!

^^Great read if you are thinking about installing a turbo! G/L

the turbo is only a tiny part of a turbo kit.

you're wasting your time buying it.

Its not as simple as just buying a turbo and sticking it under your hood somewhere.

Heres a link to my custom turbo build:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/mawnees-custom-turbo-build-173808/

This will give you a rough idea of what you need to buy and have to make(or have made) to turbo your car. Keep in mind in the cost sheet of mine that I did all of the metal work and fabrication myself. If you have to pay someone to do this for you..it will cost far far more.
