No. The pump I reference in this thread is the OE pump for the Evo. It is drop-in and will fit the sock and such.
Not much of an upgrade, though. It tops out below 200 l/hr.

^^ That would be kinda useless Not enough of a flow upgrade...

The Supra pump is a good upgrade for those that don't want to go with the Walbro 255 for whatever reason. ( Like I hate Walbro pumps )

Maybe not much of an upgrade asides from reliability I suppose. But shouldn't it be plenty for a n/a motor?

i have always been curious about the kenne bell boost a pump set up. I know it is probably impractical for most but for boosted guys it may be interesting? Anyone have any experience with this?. Dont mean to thread jack here, just a short answer?

That actually looks kinda cool, OD. Says it bumps voltage to 17v and up to 20v! I think it would fry the stock pump.....the fuel pump resistor pack wouldn't effect it because the booster only comes on in boost, so the resistor is already bypassed by then.

I think it would work better with the aforementioned secret squirrel Walbro pump mentioned here. I'm looking for all the fuel flow I can get since I want to go E85

The Walbro's are well known to not like the voltage boost from the voltage booster type pump mods.

The Densos seem to be more tolerant of the overboost voltage

What all this boils down to is that there is more than one way to skin a goose

I've been doing some reading on that Boost A Pump on various Ford forums, etc, and it's pretty split over there. One side loves it- the other claims it kills your pump(s). I dunno. It's $250 for the Boost-A-Pump and under $100 for the Walbro.....

I still want the most fuel I can get with E85 requiring it.....maybe dual Walbro pumps is in my future?

I'm anxious about a fuel pump replacement. I'm experiencing fuel cutouts after only using 2.5 gallons out of the tank on long left hand sweepers. The dealership tech said the fuel pump I have is functioning normally. He even called the mazda tech help line and that guy said the fuel cutting out is how the car is. WOW!

Right not, anything is better than the stock pump. I have another lapping day in two weekends I want to attend and don't want to have to fill up after every 20 minute run.

You need a new pump....it should work fine down to 1/4 tank..if it doesn't you need a new pump

The Walbro is the easiest upgrade..you take out the old pump..and direct fit the Walbro pump in its spot...that's if you like that pump

I will pick my car up from the shop today with the Walbro upgrade, hope it can keep up to the boost and keep my AF away from 13's.

I think someone not affiliated with BHR needs to post walbro part number. If I could buy it thru BHR right now, they would have my money. But since they aren't offering up anything until they are satisfied with testing and I'm sick of having fuel cutouts, I need something installed within two weeks.

even if we had a part # (which I honestly don't have), Im pretty sure the pump needs to be modified in order to work, doesn't it?

your car should be under warranty, have you tried getting Mazda to replace yours for the time being?

Jedi54, I did goto the dealer for warranty. Mazda dealer tech AND the Mazda tech help line both said its function normally and the pump is suppose to be like that.

To quote what the Mazda tech help line said "the pump is functioning as it was intended and that is just how the Rx8 is." Isn't that wonderful??!!

I am running NA. I am getting fuel cutouts on hard left hand sweepers at 2.7 gallons short of a full tank. Unless someone else has a better solution, I think that I need a new fuel pump.

I understand that with the split saddle fuel tank I will always have fuel issues, but that should only be at lower fuel levels. Not damn near a full tank! How is this pump not a solution for a NA car, especially my situation?

I don't know what the tech did to check the fuel pump.

You can't do worse than a fully function stock pump..that is good down to say 1/4 tank....Below that there are other issues at play..but NA you should be golden

When I swapped to a Denso 265litre pump..the problem mostly went away NA....but came back Turbo'd, So far 2 pumps seems to do the trick Turbo'd

dont exclude the 09 pump assembly. I understand the need for a stronger pump but they are other things that are important as well.The 09 assembly address's things like air bubbles/cavitation, the siphon( no matter what type increased flow fp you get you also need to get the 09 siphon tube--its bigger). replaceable fuel filter, its a denso pump and quality is much better etc.
An increased flow pump will be dang good and i hope what works for the pre 09 model will also work for the 09.
OD
