I replaced my crappy walbro with the dw200. Been running well for a week, and I don't hear it.

Contact them via this page: Contact | DeatschWerks

That's what I did and Chris in their sales department set me up with the proper model.

This is the pricey low speed control solution, but doing it the right way usually is

Aeromotive*|*16306 - Billet Fuel Pump Speed Controller

Anyone using a Aeromotive Fuel Pump Speed Controller - RX7Club.com

You could replace the OE low speed resistor with this device and then dial it in to a new lower voltage output setting. Pretty sure the factory low speed voltage setting is stated in the FSM.

That's really good info thanks Team, that should solve any issues with people not running a return and the pump overwhelming the pressure regulator

Thanks Team for finding the billet regulator I just hope I have not damaged my pump with my current overheating problems. It still runs silent and I only hear it when it starts to cavitate and the car stalls.

For now my car is 600 km from home and I will get the local dealer to fit a stock pump so I can drive it home

My thinking is you won't have to wire the rpm activation or bypass switch like they show in their installation diagram if you install it in the RX8 low speed wiring circuit to replace of the OE resistor, but you may want to verify this with Aeromotive before pulling the trigger. The PCM will automatically switch between the low and high speed wiring circuits as originally programmed by Mazda. Otherwise if you want to use the RPM activation instead for additional control you may also need the MSD or equivalent signal modifier device mentioned in their literature and also the linked thread.

Interesting news about the aeromotive pump.

I have been using the walbro pump in my s1 for about 10,000kms we also cleaned the filter with brake cleaner before instillation, pulled it all apart today in arrival for my dw 200 pump, got to the filter and it was black as anything!

Surely it cant get that dirty from only 10,000kms, I never run the tank dry, i guess I must have been using very dirty fuel? Or am I missing something else?

yer but not much 50ml a tank and every 4th tank ran without. There have been lots of comments made about the quality of bp fuel in the last 6 months, which is what I have been using most of the time.

But could it really be that bad

I have been using penrite, Penrite Oil - A Better Class Of Oil

The walbro has been revving its head off recently so loud inside the car.

Can only use 50% throttle and not much more than 4k rpm once car has been running for 10 - 15 mins

My fuel sock was just like yours shr3da. I ran the walbro pump for 5 months is all. I was using Shell or Valero.

Yeah I guess I panicked a little because last time it was out it looked the same (after 120,000kms of use) Will give it a clean and use the dw pump hopefully no more problems.

Replaced my aeromotive pump with the stock pump for now and drove home covering over 600 km without incident.

Fuel tank did not feel hot as before so the aeromotive pump was the culprit.

I think it was a combination of extreme ambient temps (40 deg celcius plus) heat soak and excess pumping of fuel was the cause of my problem.

In cooler conditions the problem may not have surfaced.

The country is in the grip of a heat wave. It started when we got to tasmania (not far from the south pole) and folowed us home on the journey back!!

We where lucky not to get caught in the bush fires

Apart from this incident I am happy with the cars performance in long distance driving combined with spirited overtaking. Oil temps never went over 85 celcius and when i deployed my water drip onto the intercooler it dropped slightly below 80

M8, You are using a mineral base 2 stroke which is for 2 stroke Grass and Weed Cutters and Lawn-mowers below 100cc, (horticultural industry) frankly it is a cheap crude 'oil' not for Auto's or Bikes with fuel 'filters'.

I would not even use this rubbish in my own lawn-mower (Victa 2 stroke)..I use Saber Pro in it.

Look at the black **** on your fingers after touching filter!!.

Under certain circumstances cavitation occurs.

Hot fuel will also mean loss of performance. Therefore, we need to find the right balance and an unregulated Aeromotive pump is not ideal
