Hey, scroll back and read my first post. I've been open minded about this project of his, all I said was if he can do it without messing up the weight distribution too much, its good.

 

Bigger brakes doesn't mean better braking. If your car is too front heavy, your bigger brakes doesn't stop the car better than a car with better weight distribution with smaller brakes.

If you refer back to my first post, I'm not complaining about this project of yours. By the way can you squeeze the 2JZ under the hood line of the 8, have you considered starting a project like building a close to real JGTC Supra?

I'm asking the same questions of Richard Paul,
why to take out oilcoolers, piping, wires, suspensions, air conditioning, etc. etc.
It would take a lot of extra time put those thinks back.

We maked the 20B convertion on less than two months, and it was in christmas time. and we open our engines and installed everything inside new.

The supra engine that you have probably the best think that you can do is open
it and see how it is, because once you put inside the car you don't whant surprises...........
this is and advice based on experience to don't waste time.

I have no idea how to comment on this thread except to say of course there is backlash. This is a ROTARY forum.

 

I think a lot of people in this thread don't necessarily have a problem with his project, although some find it strange. It's his attitude of "My mongrel 8 is better than yours" that gets annoying...especially since it doesn't exist yet.

 

I'm sorry, I think putting a piston engine is any RX car is retarded. He could have turbo 3 rotor in there for a lot less and the car would not have lost its soul. Suppose it only made 600rwhp, comapred to 1000... both are more than you'll ever be able to use.

 

I'm the last one to have a problem with an engine swap. Hell, I put a Chevy in a brand new 928. It's the fact that he's full of **** and has an attitude too boot.

 

I think engines belong in the same car they came from, at least the same brand.

thank you for your comments, i wanted to get the 20B conversion too, but i wanted to have something that nobody has done yet. And i needed to strip everything off because i am going to use different oil coolers, headlights are out because i was switcing to xenon lights. And those of you saying i have attitude problem, i am just too excited for the project because i always wanted my rx8 to be full of tourque, i want to comepete against all the camaros, mustang saleens, cobras, corvette. With the 20B i could have done that, but I wanted something more reliable, and the 2JZGTE motor is known for that. For the past year I did want to get the 20B conversion, but Rgonza did a great job on his and his friends rx8, and if i did the samething, it would be just like another rx8 with a 20B. So thats why i decided to go with something out of the box. I am just too excited thats why i went over the limit, but when the project is done, rx8 is just going to get more famous, and also I love supras performance and the rx8s body design, I combined them both and I got what i dreamed of. 20b is a great motor as well but i just wanted something else, sorry for getting you guys mad but its what i want. If you guys dont like it then its not my problem, i just wanted you guys to know that it will be a successful project, its not some idiot who is working on it. The guy is a professional and worked on JGTC cars from 1997-2001. He has a good reputation in Fresno, California, and he has worked on alot of big projects like this before. He just didn't start swapping the motor out, he worked on the design for 5 months, and planned everything with a blueprint and made sure that everything would work perfect. And those who say that handling will be gone, ofcourse it will not be the same, but it will be good enough. The main purpose is to do good on straightway. It will be super quick on the freeway and thats what I want. Again sorry to get you guys annoyed or mad and if you guys can relax and just wait for the results, i would appreciate that. And i am not saying rgonza's rx8 sucks, nooooo, when i saw it i was really impressed and thats what got me into making my rx8 powerful. Good work rgonza

greddy owners have trouble with traction, i don't even know what will happen with "close to 1000 whp"
that said, a freeway monster you want, a freeway monster it will be.. just keep your hood closed around the rotorheads

 

ofcourse 1000 hp will have traction problems, but for normal driving i am going to leave it close to 10 pounds of boost, and close to 350 - 400 hp which is good enough for normal driving.

Why not get an rb26dett and 4wd conversion. Traction problem gone . Just kidding, good luck with the swap.
Note: If anyone asks on the street, just say its a supra with an Rx-8 body, not an Rx-8 with a supra engine. You don't want rotary freaks yelling at you for something that you have complete right to do.
And whoever said this is a rotary forum need his vision checked. It's an Rx-8 forum.
