Unhappy

Well nevermind , they will be starting it today but probably won't be fully ready till monday. Have to do some checks and balances; Vac, oil, fuel, and exhaust leak test, Heat cycle, retighten all bolts, then on to the dyno....Well @ least there being very thorough...rather have them take their time and ensure everything is in proper, working condition, then just install and send me on my way.

that's too bad but at least you know they want it finished right.

Nope

but here are some pics

^^^^What is that I see behind the bumper

They went to start it this evening and the car threw a crankshaft position sensor code so they are in the process of diagnosing that, which should be quick, then on to the dyno tommorrow.

The above pics are prior to them installing maf intake and rerouting some hoses and wires. Setup looks super clean and did a great job on the intake for my maf

looks hot. i am interested in the coolant/pcm hose routing, and your accessport results with such limited space.

Well Good News! They got her fired up and straped on to the dyno today....thinking to myself time for some real testing, can't wait....First time around lots of smoke and found a coolant and oil leak.....fixed that....then did some more runs, still lots of smoke and then a orange glow coming from engine bay................... < My reaction @ first.............Then -> : OH **** FIRE

Well somewhere between me passing out and them putting out the fire,(J/K on the passing out) come to find out that cheap, shitty ***, thermotec exhaust wrap had caught on Fu*cking fire...what a POS..

Thank you god nothing else was damaged except for the exhaust wrap, so now they are wraping it w/some quality **** and will continue w/testing tomorrow

And now for your viewing pleasure

glad it was just the thermotec....I figured it wasn't going to hold up, but I didn't think it would catch on fire

looking good tho....although your engine bay could use a detail :P

You are probably gonna have some real problems getting a good tune going.
Besides the screwy MAF positioning and the steps/bends in the tube, the recirc being just behind the MAF and pointing in at a right angle is going to be worse than just plain VTA (though the Synchonic is a poor choice for VTA on a MAF-equipped vehicle).

LOL. I did follow your thinking on that one, though. (Before the edit.)

The problem with the location is that it doesn't have enough volume to take on the recirc air without disturbing the MAF.

so maybe a microtech would be better for tuning on that setup....unless it's easier to fix the maf tube.

Well, a Microtech is never "better".

That is like saying its better to starve because you don't have a fork.

Yeah hadn't seen the completed product until today when it was on the dyno,(The day prior only had the maf tube done w/no recirc fitting) and immediately thought, the exact same thing, but they had it running and idling so thought nothing else of it hmmm now I wonder how those maf, afr, and fuel trim readings were looking.

The readings must have not been that off for them to be doing the kind of pulls that they were doing ...I mean all out...

But I gotta admit hearing that t70 spool and the new tone of my exhaust along w/the BOV made everything else damn near irrelevant...until the fire of course

But we'll see how things come along, The tube is 3.5" all the way through, only thing I can see them adjusting is orientation of the MAF and blocking off the recirc and VTA because there is just not enough room or tight enough radius hose/tube to properly recirc the BOV.

I ordered the anti stall for my BOV for back up, but that is on a national backorder

police34 has my anti stall valve. On the off chance he's not using it, you might want to PM and see if he is willing to sell.

Wait. You are doing non-tuned dyno pulls?

You would be surprised.

I've watched "pro" shops crank the boost more and more as the motor detonated and the power went down.

^^^^ well can't seem to get any sleep now....really concerned about this..I had them upload the first of your base calibrations (pre fix maps) and as far as I know they were doing pulls using that...Now how the readings were I don't know as I only saw them run it for a short amount of time before heat wrap caught on fire. Not sure on how many pulls or for how long prior to me arriving.
