The car is at PF Supercars right now, I have a Racing Brake BBK being shipped directly there and when I get the car back I should have a dyno sheet to post.

I'm not sure if I put your blocking plate (for the air pump hose) in your box or not.
I'll just send you another one to be sure.

Cool, thanks Jeff... I got a chance to hang out with and chat with Ray at PFS and he remembered you and spoke well of you. He definitely has his head screwed on straight, and said a lot of the same things I've heard you say about how there is no "magic" in the business of tuning and anybody that tells you otherwise is lying.

All the guys at the shop seemed really cool, and they had some beautiful RX-8s and RX-7s up there. They just did a 20B swap for an RX-8 that makes me incredibly jealous, but I'm more than happy with the setup I have.

are you going to see what the turbo can do or tune it to stock wastegate psi ?

I don't think anyone has ever posted a dyno of this turbo making more than 310hp so it needs to be done

/\ really .Think i recall 316 on the FI Dyno charts (which no longer exists) but no-one seems to have maxed out this turbo and posted a dyno.

Ya, you said 310-rwhp, Jeff posted a 316 one

I've personally seen higher- not sure why he doesn't post them.....

I will post up a higher one once I get moved and access to a dyno

I'm shooting for 325 rwhp and Ray from PFS seems to think I'll hit that no problem. Anything beyond that is gravy. As long as I'm in the 300+ club I'm happy to be honest. It's going to be like getting a whole new car when I pick it up, with Racing Brake brakes, the turbo and meth kit, driving my car after puttering around in my backup Geo Prism is going to feel like a goddamn race car.

So when are you supposed to pick up your car?

325-rwhp is doable but you will be running higher boost. I like 9psi for normal day driving, which can put you right around 300-310rwhp

No my wastegate is 7psi. I can hit just shy of 9 at redline without it tho. With the bc I get 9 by 3800 rpm

interesting - it's the almost exact reverse of what a greddy does .....

Yeah, I'm planning to run 10 PSI or so. Ray said that without relying on some form of injection he hadn't tuned an 8 to run much higher boost than that on pump gas. The car will be injecting windshield fluid, but I asked that it not be tuned for it. I want the car to be safe to drive in boost even if my non-expert installation of my meth kit somehow fails to work.

One thing that is nice, is they have been doing a lot more work on RX-8s of late, and have done a 20B swap, SFR, PTP, and GReddy turbo installs with a variety of ECM options, so the install isn't new territory for them. After my install they have another MD guy coming in with an Esmeril turbo kit. Ray was even ruminating about completing work he had started years ago on a complete turbo kit for RX-8s as there is more of a market now that the car has dropped in price.

I would personally stay away from windsheild washer gunk. It has a lot of other chemicals in it. I'm not saying it doesn't work, because it will, but there is better stuff out there IMO.

I ran a gallon thru my system then pulled the TB charge pipe when I was doing some work and noticed a green powdery haze on the inside- the same color as the fluid I was using. I switched a homebrew blend of 60/40 distilled water and denatured alky and never had that stuff again.

Lol. phail.
The green stuff has detergent and surfactants in it (along with green dye). Read the label.

The blue stuff contains only methanol and water and dye.

Denatured isn't as good as methanol, btw. Meth is cheaper, too.

Hund grabbed us 5 gal of pure meth for under $3 a gal, IIRC.
Local place in Phoenix that sells race fuels.

The blue stuff just leaves dye, no surfactants. Read the labels.
You might have grabbed blue stuff that had "bug remover". Don't do that.
Also, the local blend of blue stuff has only about 15% - 20% meth.
My own mix is 40%.

Blue stuff is even lower than that here man. I could only find stuff good to +32F nothing colder. Very low meth content. It was last on the ingredent list. Shawn had looked up the manufacture and most said under 5% methonal

Where did you find meth? Hopefully I will be able to find some where I'm moving

The +32° stuff is 15%. the -24° stuff is 20%.

You mean straight meth?

Definitely NOT better unless you have tuned for the fuel value of it (stioch around 9:1!).
You should never run more than 50% in a motor tuned just for gasoline.
You will end up leaning out your actual AFR, even though it will show up richer.

I think it was $1.90 a gallon. Cost me just over $9 for 5 gallons.

Have you sent this already Jeff? If not can you give me a call? PFS said its not a big deal and worst case they can just fab something, but they did not have the blocking plate with the turbo components and I haven't seen anything in the mail. Anything they should know about doing this? Otherwise can you send the blocking plate directly to PFS? www.pfsupercars.com for the address.
