Yup, definitely super lame what happened, but I'm glad the Satan's Hairdryer is still available. It was the kit that I wanted when I first decided to turbo my 8, so I'm really psyched to get it installed.

Updated the first post. For those of you who know, should I install an AEM water/meth setup before I get the turbo put in so I don't have to do it afterwards/during, or should I wait until after the turbo install is completed? The more knock protection I have during my initial install and tuning the better, but I would prefer to get it out of the way before the actual turbo install if possible.

The W/M i would leave off until your done tuning. you dont want to tune with the w/m, you wanna tune without it, then add the W/M as a safety net

this doesnt mean you cant get everyting setup now. but IMO you want to tune with it not being used

AEM intake is already in, so the modification to that will have to wait until the actual turbo install. I don't mind tuning without it so the w/m is a safety net, I guess I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row to get the turbo in and getting antsy without much to do for the moment. I've been holding off on the gauges until I had a firm commitment on delivery of the turbo, because every mod I've put in so far is fine NA if the turbo falls through, but once I hack a big hole in my dash to put the lotek pod with a boost gauge I'm somewhat committed. :P

I've already made enough modifications to the car that my warranty is shot anyway, and already dropped the money for all the parts, so I'm impatient to get the "Boost Virgin" off my title in the Overlords thread. I've done my research, I've made all the decisions, but I'm not too good with the waiting game.

Well, with whats going on with StealthTL's upgrade (https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/today-my-one-year-anniversary-168070/) I'm doing some questioning for myself. I just sent an email to Jeff to try and get an update on the status of my turbo.

When I ordered the upgrade kit I was told it would be 8-12 weeks for delivery which is more than acceptable. When I ordered the kit I didn't know that Stealth had still not received hers and had been waiting nearly a year since purchase in full. If Jeff is able to get my kit out to me in the time he said then great, but if he is too busy and simply cannot get the kit made/shipped when he thought, I would rather know up front so I can get a refund and make alternate plans.

We'll see what happens at this point. I'm looking potentially at the TD06 upgrade with the water-cooling and porting as another option if the 3071R falls through. It should be sufficient to meet my power goals and well within the price range.

Franken-turbo: does that mean you have to pay Swoope royalties for the use of the 'franken' idea?

Glad to hear your turbo is on it's way, looking forward to your results

Hmm, I have used that term for similar "pieced together" things as long as I can remember, so I don't think Swoope has any cash coming his way. I'm going nuts waiting for this thing. I want boost!!!

More updates posted... Oil catch can installed today, BHR Ignition Upgrade and AEM water/methanol injection kit paid for. My delivery date for the 3071R should be in a couple of weeks, then I just need to schedule the installation.

Yup, thats what I meant, but the College Park thread should have the link to Google Maps with the meeting location and the route we are taking to College park. Last year it was a good show with cool cars and we had a decent number of 8s. This year I'm bringing various friends also including a friend from the Eastern shore who is coming up with his Evo group.

The car is in the shop today and tomorrow to have my Tsunami bumper painted and installed. I'm ordering the OEM front splash guards and getting the car tinted before declaring the exterior modifications done for the moment. More updates on the turbo build on the first page as the final parts begin to arrive. I have a tenative build date set for late next month. I can't wait!
