Hopefully shady can get it clocked right for me and I am going to go to a place tomorrow to try and see about getting some hard lines made. I'm not sending it back anywhere. From now on I will just deal with Majestic Turbo up in Waco. I should have just went to them in the first place, at least if I have a problem I can drive my happy *** up there.

I'll take pics tomorrow once the turbo is clocked and see of you guys have any ideas on how to route the coolant lines.

Shady, can you bring that new 20g CHRA?
Yea man I'm just going to bring everything down with me. I'll text you once I get Austins trans squared away. Don't worry man we will get you back up and running!

QTdude is parting his car out. He will have his bnr greddy kit up for sale soon. I think it has 2000 miles on the rebuild.

Outsourcing work is common practice in the business world. I would bet half the products on your guys cars are the result of outsourced work. Its very rare for a company to be specialized in every form of business, and very impractical. We don't have the necessary machinery in house to machine Mitsubishi bearing housings. There is nothing wrong with outsourcing work. We never said this was an in house build.

Prototype parts sometimes don't go as planned. Its always hard to get things correct the first time around, especially when you don't have complete control of the situation. I intended on personally making sure it was done correctly before shipping to Scott, however he made it very clear several times he didn't want to miss a big event coming up. I ended up having the parts overnight-ed at no extra cost in an effort to make him happy. I mentioned this was risky as I wouldn't be able to check everything. For some reason I thought the event was DGRR( which is tomorrow). He was also given a discount on this unit upfront in exchange for being the 1st one to do this.

The guys at CompTurbo screwed up. I asked them several times, and double checked with them that it would have hardlines, and zero issues with bolting up etc. This is why I requested the turbo manifold. I was assured everything was done correctly. I asked for photos, and I wasn't given anything, but a front on shot. They wouldn't answer their phones after this( which was only 2 days ago). They also originally told me it would be 2-3 weeks to get the turbo done. I added a week onto this to be safe. Again they kept telling me just one more week, its almost done, its shipping etc. I literally called them over 50 times in the past month. All I could do is relay the info to Scott. Near the end I told him I had really no idea, since I was starting to see through misinformation I was given.

I just spoke with Scott after looking at a photo he sent me, hes been able to re-clock the turbo. All it needs now are the coolant adapter fittings and some hard lines. I said I can make those in house for him, but I need the turbo/manifold at my shop. He also said hes very happy with the turbo less correcting the coolant lines...

Not trying to cause issues but I'm curious. You state you never said it was an in house build. Did you say it would be outsourced? If not then you can understand why we would be curious. Seems to me you would want to inspect everything you outsource before it gets shipped because ultimately it is your reputation on the line.

This is typical stuff that happens on a custom built anything when the person doing the manufacturing doesn't have all of the pieces to work with. They make assumptions or don't think it through because they aren't faced with the install...

It is a lot harder to button up all the small details than to do the big stuff

I'm sure that this can be easily worked out...but gotta feel for 9K on the frustration level he is feeling.....

I have been ealing with a glitch with my build that is going on 90 days.....and I am pulling out my hair waiting

Yeah the waiting and missing the Texas 8 and not being able to drive my car is the most frustrating thing but I don't blame Turblown for that. I know outsourcing is common, I just was not aware that this would be outsourced so it caught me by surprise and obviously they did not do what they were supposed too and that blows. But I was the first to do this so **** happens.

I think at this point I'll just have a local fab shop do it so I can get it done and back into the car as fast as possible. I really don't want to hassle with mailing it again and waiting. But I'm gonna clock it today and fit everything to see what we can work out.

Comp turbo billet wheels flow 20 percent more airflow than cast units of the same size they claim..
I'm not sure it's beneficial to have a too much larger of a compressor in the restrictive turbine housing and manifold anyhow. It might do nothing but create more lag. I've seen that on other hybrid upgrades. Keep in mind retail cost was also kept in consideration to try and be less expensive than other upgrades.

The wheel is the same size as Shady's 20G which is 54mm at the inlet. It is a piece of art to be honest, it looks great so hopefully this bad boy works well.

Thanks to HoustonRX8er and Shadycrew, we figured out a better solution than messing with routing hard lines. I am not sure why this was not recommended by AMR or Turblown and I am guessing this is exactly what BNR does on the CHRA's used on their upgrades for the Greddy. We clocked the turbo correctly in relation to the manifold and engine and they noticed something so they removed the two freeze plugs to test a theory houstonrx8er and Shady both had, and they were right........... I had asked AMR about removing the freeze plugs and putting fittings in their place and they said the plugs could not be removed to swap the fittings to the other side. Wrong.

The CHRA has four ports, two on each side. Two are freeze plugged closed and two are threaded and left open for fittings to be installed in for the coolant to enter and exit. Which side they decide to plug must depend on the application for the CHRA. So we removed the freeze plugs and tested them with air to make sure all four holes were in the same coolant path and they were.

So, I am having freeze plugs put into the two threaded holes that will now sit towards the engine block/turbo manifold and I will have the two other holes threaded for fittings and they will sit out board (exactly like the BNR) and I will be able to easily put fittings on them and hoses. Such a seemingly simple solution, I can't believe they figured it out and not the rebuilders.

Getting this done will cost some more money and cause me to miss the Texas 8 but at least it will be done right and I can finally drive the damn car.

Now if Shady's new 20G gets him to the same power level as I hit when we are both tuned then I will choke someone because with what I have spent so far on the two rebuilds, I could have bought three new 20G CHRA'a by now just like his.

The saga continues. I just wanna say thanks to Shady, Houstonrx8er, Hoss-05 and the rest of the SARX crew because without them I would have just said **** it and gone back to NA on my new motor by now

Honestly if I could do it all over I would go with the BNR 60-1 and the Greddy with all the fixes done. Or I would get the the CHRA Shady got and get the machine work done locally which is pretty simple. The CHRA Shady bought can be worked to be setup just how mine will be when it's done and how the BNR is and it's cheap. But the proof will be when all of get running and tuned. Then we will see who's boosted car runs the best.

I'm excited to see how your setup works out, I think we will make similar power.

If you really don't want to miss the meet, you can run the turbo without the cooling lines hooked up. Its not going to hurt anything. It would be no different than running the greddy unit oil cooled only. As you can see its the same exact bearing housings casting, whether the lines are hooked up or not. I am not very familiar with Mitsubishi bearing housings, and never really had a reason to switch cooling lines etc..

I would suggest you try a pressure test after putting the new freeze plugs in the CHRA to ensure you don't have to pull it again because of a coolant leak.

Another forum member has offered to test one of these units including dyno sheets, and other parameters etc in exchange for a deal. Its only a matter of time before we see how it compares to the other units on the market. Is BNR the only other place offering a upgrade?

I will have the holes tapped for fittings and the freeze plugs put in to day and they said they will pressure test it as well. The only other place that makes a specific Greddy T618Z upgrade is rx8performance and I hate plugging them but the chances are it's a solid upgrade.

As soon as it is buttoned up Kane and I will work on getting it tuned and I plan on hitting the dyno ASAP.

I had Kane help me out to do some tuning, it was done via email and phone.

Are you guys hoping to use his new tuning software/services?

Is he flying out to meet you are is going to be done remotely?

Yeah I have been working with Kane for a bit on it but now with the new turbo we have to start over. We are trying to get him down here but I have to get everyone on the same page.
