Cono!!!! Sure you can built a rotor N/A making 350+ hp with just make little port to intake and removing the exhaust sleeve from it, and install ford mustang big throtle around 90 mm or more and rev it to 10,000 RPM .

I know its against the spirit of the topic, but (just for personal refrence) what kind of mpg does a set up like this get? (ready for the "who cares look at the awsome ride responses") Just currious to hear from someone who actually has hands on exp with the 3 rotor - peace

All depends of your driving habits, in cruise drive on highway is around 18 mpg to 20 MPG At full Throtle At 14 PSI boost and reving it at 10,000 RPM is around 15 MPG or less but your able to producing around 750 HP at the crank. There are no Subis STI, Mitsu EVOl, Z06,Ferrraris,Porsh, lambo, bmw M at front of you.

If you could settle for like 500 whp you would have better gas milage than the renesis.

that is awsome considering i got about 13-16 mpg with my 86 FC ( of course I was only 17 yrs old and drove that girl HARD)! So, all in all this is not a completely unreasonalbe mod that is totaly impractical considering the gains.....my future is shapeing up nicely

Floyd,

You can imagine how hard Robert drive his car...........................
consider that he already broke 4 axels and two transmissions.

Remenber you're no needs to rev the engine so high, the Turbocharged 3 rotor reach about 350+ torque and over 325 hp at just 3,800 Rpmsno like renesis you're needs to reving at high RPMs to reach the avertise hp and torque. And it's need to run high gear (4.44) rearend . i run on mine 3.90 with this setup the cars run more efficient than turbo renesis.

Robert, after you hardened those tranny parts and got upgraded axels, have you broke anything since? Or does the rest of the driveline seem to be holding up ok?

You want to bet? There are friends(Many) with Porsches 996 Twin Turbos( chipped ECU'S and K24 hybrid Turbos-Street cars) that will leave that three rotor rx8 eating dust !!!!!! They will put those 750hp not at the crank but at the wheel !!!!! There is even one of them that just dusted a Twin Turbo Viper(1000hp) and I'm talking about street cars !!! What makes you think that those cars cant be modded just like your RX8? and the good thing is that they will last years of heavy driving without breaking apart !!!

^Because they don't have rotary inside...
And who told you that the 3rotor will fall apart?
Just one code name for you: 787b, bye bye

Hey, I'm not putting down the 3 Rotor RX8- I think is a very fast car. He just made a big generalization with other fast cars.
Thats all.

The 787B is an excellent racing car. !!! It even uses a 5 Speed Porsche Transmission !!!

rx8ultra,

You can make with any car whatever you whant.............
The real think here how much cost those "porcherias" vs this RX8...............

This rx8 maked more than 800 hp at the wheel with 18psi of boost................

750hp at the wheel is piece of cake for this 3 rotor engines but the idea is not to make a dyno queen or create to much hp that the car can't transfer them and spin the tires all the time.................

^Yeah...lol, I agree you can pretty much make any car do almost anything. Especially when you are changing engines and stuff.

Manuel (my dad and brothers name also) so how much do I have to pay you to make me a 3-rotor Renesis? Sure, there is the 20B but I'd rather stick to the newer tech Renesis while I know it would be hard because of the side port configuration (hard, but is it impossible?).

Honestly, If I could build a 3-rotor Renesis 13B and make 350-400HP NA, that would in turn allow me to cut it from 4.44 to something like your 3.90's which would help with the fuel economy while making a MUCH faster RX8.

I'm new to the rotary world (I've learned ALOT here thanks to some of our rotary wise people) but I just hate to give up on the idea of a 3-rotor 13b Renesis. With the power it makes with 2 rotors and what it can achive with lofty 4.44 gearing regarding mpg, I just think it would be a great engine to 3-rotor.

Wouldn't it be great for someone to sell a 3-rotor kit for the RX8 giving you everything you needed to build your own?

I'm such a dreamer....sigh....

It wouldn't be THAT hard, you'd just need an engineer or two who know rotaries working full time for several months, finite element analysis software, your own foundry, and CNC machine shop. Simple!

^LOL...yeah, I had to go read my 3-rotor Renesis thread to be brought back to earth. I guess I'll have to say goodbye to NA power in the future and give in to the Turbo upgrade.

I know, I wont be modding heavy for a while but I just love to dream I guess.

By the way, how much HP did the 20B make in NA form? Is 400HP from a 20B NA possible?

Anyway, I hope direct fuel injection and a wider (15B) rotor change the world of the Rotary one day.

Manuel...ignore my foolish newbie dreaming.
